Face to face follow up sent to me after polyp removal

I had a polyp residue taken out 6 weeks ago by Myosure hysterscopy and polypectony  and sent off ( part taken off it in feb all benign) she released me and said she write with histology  now I’ve been sent a face to face apt this week ( test results back 9 days ) I was told by secretary. worried sick as think it’s either cancerous polyp or endometrial cancer . Can anyone advise me of similar as thinking the worse

  • I have had a similar experience…all my womb and polyp biopsies had always come back normal, apart from one I had earlier this year…they removed the polyps and I was sure the results would be normal, took almost 6 weeks for results and I got a call to give me an appointment…I stressed out so much, that in the end the consultants secretary got one of the nurses to ring me with the results…this time they found complex atypical hyperplasia (pre cancerous cells) in one polyp…I went in for my appointment and was to,d the recommended treatment was a hysterectomy, which I agreed to,

I was offered a cancellation appointment but on the day my blood sugar levels were too high so it couldn’t go ahead.  My consultant said he would reschedule the op for 3 months time to give me time to get blood sugar levels back to normal and in the meantime suggested a Mirena coil,

I had the Mirena out in and hated it, I had bleeding every day for 3 months.

I had my hysterectomy on 18th September and was home the next day…

My results came back just as I was seeing my consultant as I had a haematoma which needed draining…

My results were all good, no cancer (40% of complex atypical hyperplasia show cancer on histology after hysterectomy) and no hyperplasia, so it seems it was just contained in that one polyp.

I am now fully recovered after my hysterectomy and am so glad I don’t have all the worry anymore.

There is no point me saying don’t worry because you will but I will say just because you have an appointment doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad news, some consultants prefer to give results in person…

I hope your results are ok x

  • Thankyou as sounds similar and just hope it’s on the polp  they took part of the polpy out In feb all benign and residue never fell out so this was the residue taken out 6 weeks ago and sent off , I was released but now been called in this Friday ( results back 9 days ago ) I really hope mine is hyperplasia as I’ve always had a thick Endrometrial over the years several polpys all benign . I will update this Friday and thankyou xxx

  • You don’t say how old you are? If postmenopausal they might recommend a hysterectomy whatever the result…I was going to ask for one if my results had all been normal anyway as I was fed up of all the worry…I went through similar in 2019 with all normal results…then it happened again in January this year…my result gave me what I wanted I guess

  • I’m 67 , I been plagued with uterine polpys for years and I’m scar3d of a hysterectomy but you made me less nervous as home next day , amazing .. I’ll let you know about Friday , thanks for being so kind I’m in  the uk

  • Sorry also did you get bleeding as I’ve just got discharge even after the polpy was removed , thankyou x

  • I had postmenopausal bleeding both times which started the investigations…only a small amount of pinkish discharge when I wiped after a wee…

I was terrified of having a hysterectomy…I’m very overweight and also T2 diabetic…but apart from the haematoma by my belly button which was an annoyance rather than anything else everything was really straightforward.  Glad it’s all out the way and I can now concentrate of my poor broken arm!

    Good luck for tomorrow x

  • When I has my radio-iodine scan a year after having thyroid cancer, I was told they would phone me with the results. Then I got a letter with an appointment for face-to-face. I freaked out, thinking they must have found something and phoned them up to hear it was 100% clear.

Try not to read too much into how they give the result. It could just be the consultant's preference or they might have something, not necessarily something bad, they want to discuss with you.

  • Hi MollySue

How did your appointment go today?

  • Grade 1 cancer In lining

will know stage after mri but caught early and lap hysterectomy

    no bleeding

  • So sorry to read this, but at least it’s early stage so hopefully you will only need a hysterectomy and no further treatment x
