Fatty lump on back now going for biopsy so scared

Hi all,

Writing here because I am scared as hell. I am married in my early 40s with two sons, 2 year old and 11. long story short, around june this year my wife notice a limp on my back, being a nurse she felt it and was not too concerned because it was soft and movable. in september i had an appointment with a derma anyway booked for something else so didnt think too much. At the time derma said it feels like a lipoma but arrange an ultrasound. The within a couple of weeks, i had an mri arranged. I received a letter that i am getting referred to hospital for orthopaedic mutli discipline team  to review scans and follow up, because but ultrasound and mri did show the lump shows some sighs of the lump being a fatty lump but there are some uncertainty of its nature. This letter already sent my mind to overdrive. No one has really explained what the concerns were to me. Today i get a call to arrange a biopsy.
im just so scared, my dad is already at late stage cancer bowel and liver going through treatment last 3 years.
Its been a lot for me and my family. I am just so scared……..

  • Hi baziy2k,

I can understand your concerns and I'm sure this must all feel very difficult at the moment, with what is going on and the uncertainty. They are probably not saying too much at this point because they don't have all the necessary information, until they're able to do the required tests. It's good to hear they are being thorough and I hope it's not too long for you to wait to find out more.

Try to keep busy while you wait and to focus on other things as much as possible, and take things a day at a time.

Hopefully you'll get some more replies here and as I say, I hope you hear more soon following the tests.

    Wishing you all the best,
