CT scan a week ago for enlarged cervical lymph nodes, called in next Thursday.

30 yo based in the UK NHS system.

I’ve been undergoing various antibiotics, bloods and tests for enlarged painless lymph nodes for 8 months, I had a CT scan last Friday and received a letter today telling me basically nothing, just that I need to come in and see my haematologist next Thursday.

In others experience, should I be prepared for bad news? Or does this indicate neither?

I hugely underestimated the power of health anxiety,  I am genuinely terrified. Any honest advice and knowledge would help me prepare either way.

thank you so much and sending best wishes to everybody on here.

  • Hi Livinglamden,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are so worried. It is impossible to predict whether your news will be good or bad. Most consultants prefer to give all results face-to-face. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, due to pressure of work and some have to resort to telephone calls or post. Again, these methods have been used for all types of news.

This is always a worrying time. I hope that you do not get any untoward news next Thursday. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine, that’s really kind and I appreciate the honesty. I’ll keep in touch!
