Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like they are being thorough and it's good to hear you don't have too long to wait to find out more.

It is normal to do any necessary investigations to get answers or rule things out, as you say.

I hope that the wait doesn't feel too long - I know this kind of uncertainty can be difficult to deal with. Try to keep busy while you wait, and in the meantime hopefully you'll get some more replies here - we're always here if you need it.

Hi all, unfortunately it’s cancer. Graded at T3b initially then downgraded to T2 after internal scan. Radiotherapy starts on 18th Dec for 5 days was initially 5 weeks but they are increasing the radiation dose.  Then 2 week break followed by 3 months chemo tablets/intro. Then rescan in April to see if it’s had an effect 50/50 chance it’s been irradiated then watch and wait with 3 monthly sigmoidoscopy.  If  any presence at all it will be surgery to remove rectum and stoma due to being too low to anal verge. we are crossing everything it works.  It’s going to be a very challenging time.   Anyone know what to expect from the radiation ? 

 Harcool i am sorry your husband has had to deal with this diagnosis . It must feel overwhelming. I am hoping and praying the treatment is successful and the side effects are manageable.
