Breast dimple/dent need advice

Hi, so I am 28 & had a baby 7mo ago, didn’t breastfeed. I’ve recently been more anxious about breast cancer. The other day I noticed that when lifted my arm my left breast (only in very certain lighting) was dimpling / dent in one or two areas on the underside. Needless to say I am freaking out and crying every day. Breast clinic appt this Tuesday. No distinct lump under or around that can be felt. Has anyone had any experience of this or benign stories? I can’t function :(

  • Hi Chill,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am glad to hear that you have found us early on in your journey You are far better sticking to these well-respected sites instead of constantly googling. We usually advise people to avoid consulting "Dr Google" at this stage, as this doesn't give you any answers, but tends to scare you even further. It is always an anxious time when you are waiting to be seen, especially when you have a strong family history of breast and ovarian cancer.  Irrespective of the outcome, you will feel better once you know the outcome.

If you have read through some of the previous posts, you will know that not everyone gets bad news. In fact, 80% of people who attend the breast clinic, do not get a cancer diagnosis. Not all lumps tend to be cancerous either. Most turn out to be benign cysts or due to fibrous or hormonal changes. It is also a case that the younger you are, the less likely you are to have it, although sadly, there are no guarantees.

I have a strong family history too and I've had 2 bouts of breast cancer, within a year of one another. That was all 14 years ago and I still lea a busy life - I'm sure that you will too.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks so much Jolamine xx I hope you are keeping well xx

  • Chill

    sorry you are so worried

the doctor can only assume , until biopsy is done or something is found I don’t see how he should have worried you like this , gp are not the breast professionals, leave it to the breast clinic lovely , wishing you all the luck big hugs love Lara xx.
