I had my results 11th August and my surgery is on the 29th September. I had to have mri and Ct to see if spread first then an appointment about surgery. Iv hated waiting these last 4 weeks. Want it done with xx

I'm glad to hear that your dressing is off now and that you are feeling a little more comfortable as a result. Lack of sleep can really get you down. Would you consider taking something to help you to sleep, even if it was only for a short while?

Hi Jolamine.  Since I was given my surgery date it was like a weight lifted off me.  The past week or 2 I’ve been kind of making myself feel ill worrying about waiting for more results.  But now I’m all set to go  I feel much better x 

Also ladies. Just a quick one.  Did anyone lose any hair before they were diagnosed?  4 weeks before I even went to the doctors a large clump of my hair came out (left side of my head is bald). Luckily I have long thick curly hair. But was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.

I will see how I go- I would certainly consider taking something to help me sleep if it goes on for too long, but I’m assuming that as I continue to heal it will naturally improve. There’s a 2 week wait for an appointment at my doctors surgery (unless it’s an emergency) so I’m hoping things will have settled by then. I might mention it when I go for my follow up appointment xx

Mention it at your follow up appointment, or phone your nurse if you need help before that.. I had the same problem post-op, along with some terrible night sweats.  I didn't take sleeping tablets, but I did resort to Venlafaxine (a mild anti-depressant), which helped with the night sweats, sleep and my mood swings. This made a huge difference to how I felt in general.

Morning all.  Just a quick update.  Had surgery on tues. All went well.  First 3 nights were awful for sleep but last couple of nights have been fine. How long did everyone take off work after surgery?  I was hoping to be back to work possibly wed/ thurs however I still feel very sickly when I’m sitting / standing so I don’t think that will be happening.

Morning lovely! I’m glad to hear everything went well with your surgery. I took 2 weeks off work and then went back for a week but ended up off work again as I had really bad nerve pain that started 3 weeks post op. I would definitely give yourself plenty time to rest and recover. Everyone is different but I felt I rushed back to work too quickly as I was desperate to get back to some kind of normality. Take it at your own pace and see how you feel xx

I took day after operation and that’s it but I worked from home throughout I needed normal life couldn’t cope with the thinking at the time , it would have been different if I had to go in to the office , but it’s my own company and I found working fook my mind of it xx taje ad much time as you need don’t rush it x

Im glad all went well on Tuesday,  I’m now nearly 3 weeks post op. Last week I did some work from home and then built it up more towards the end of the coming week is going to be a normal work week for me, other than going to the hospital for my follow-up appointment tomorrow morning, I’ve felt fine other than having trouble sleeping, but if things change I’ll take more time off. Just build up work slowly as you feel able, and be prepared for it to feel like one step forward, two steps back at times.

yeah the sleeping was terrible the first few nights but I seem to be sleeping a bit better now.  Altho I do have pillows at every side of me and under my legs haha. I really cant cope with not been able to sleep on my side .

I will work from home again this week to give me more time to rest before thinking of going back into the office.
