Lumpectomy

Hi.  2 months ago I noticed a dent in my left breast.  Went to doctors 21st Aug and was given 2 week urgent referral.  Attended breast clinic on 5th sept and had scans and biopsy on the lump.  Doctor advised that it is a 2cm lump and that I will be going for surgery.   Have appointment on 19th to go through biopsy results and that will confirm if I require further treatment.    Does anyone know how long after biospy results that you go for surgery?

thanks

  • Sorry you find yourself here.

They won’t delay surgery, but you might have further tests or treatment after initial biopsy results before you have the surgery.

For example mine went 14 Feb GP, 07 Mar consultant & core biopsies, 23 Mar core biopsy results, and punch biopsy, 30 Mar MRI, 11 April punch biopsy result and offered provisional surgery date, 13 April MRI result, mag seeds in and mag trace injection, 17 Apr surgery.

    Sending you a hug x

  • Thanks for your replies everyone. Much appreciated.  I will wait and see what they have planned for me on Tues.

    love to all x

  • Hi Jacksonjet,

Thank you for the update. I am so sorry to hear that you've been blighted by this disease too. It is always difficult to break the news to family and friends, but will be especially so for you, with your family history. My sincere sympathy on the loss of your two brothers. I can understand that  you don't want to burden the family further, when you still don't know the outcome of your sister's treatment. This is something that you will have to tell them about and I expect that they may feel upset, if you don't let them know before you have yours surgery.

The more positive you can sound about the outcome, when you tell them, the better they will usually take it. Do you know what treatment is planned for you yet? I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer - just a year apart from each. That was 14 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life - I'm sure that you will too.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    how are you feeling xx

  • I’m feeling ok.  I told my parents yesterday Altho after sitting for an hour I couldn’t do it face to face. It was too hard after all they been through and going through with my sister so I went home and done it via text.  My mam did say she was pleased I did it that way.  Obv they are really upset but I’ve told them I will be ok and just to focus on my sister as she needs more support than me at the moment.

  • Also told my son, but didn’t go into too much detail as he’s in the army so he’s away from home all the time so didn’t want to worry him too much x

  • Jacksonjet

That’s a weight lifted for you , I done exactly the same told my family played it right down so that they knew but only told them the positives and that it was early stages ect which it was and that I was gunna be ok and I was I walked that Mile with my head tall Lippy on smiling I wasn’t giving in to pj days and it worked for me I didn’t miss a single outing with friends xx you can do it too xx.

  • Jackson

the only thing that got me where my family got concerned is that my lymph nodes were clear on scans ect but after operation I had a teeny trace in one node so then had to have another operation removing all nodes , this scared them cause I had played it down , so it bit me on backside a bit , but after that operation all lymph nodes taken they come back clear panick over xx

  • Yeah I’ve not mentioned about nodes to them. Obv my scan showed nothing but as you said, could be different during surgery. So will play that from there.   It has def been a huge weight off my shoulders telling them as that was the only thing I was worried about. So going to leave them a day or 2, to process it all and then go see them again.

I am def not giving in to pjs days haha .  I will be going on as normal as best I can.  Xx

the right mindset you will fly it I promise xx
