This is awful! I can’t believe you are waiting this long! I know you shouldn’t have to but could you see someone privately for an initial consultation? 

I have considered but pals told me that even if I paid for private scans the wait would be the same if I then needed to be seen for treatment. I don't have a lot of spare money and couldn't pay for private treatment other than initial scans. I know there's the possibility that they could tell me all was OK- but it's if they don't, and I'm still left waiting.

This is just not acceptable , if it is USC ( Urgent suspected Cancer) you are supposed to be seen within two weeks as per government guidelines , but 20 weeks! I would still try and be seen for an initial consultation privately , then if needed they can refer you back to the nhs for tests xx

I know. I've quoted the guidance to the clinic and to pals but it's falling on deaf ears. I have considered  the private route but it seems pointless if my wait for nhs treatment is then still the same. 

I dud enquire about an initial private consultation. It's £250 for 10 minutes and the outcome is  list of what tests I need. I just can't justify that. It won't give me any clearer idea.

It just seems crazy that no one can do anything to help. I have my fingers crossed that icb will come back soon..

Write to the chief exec of the hospital you're attending and make it known in the letter you are copying in the care quality comission. Don't email, actually write and send the letter royal mail signed for service.

Put in the letter facts to date, such as:

This is a suspected cancer case

You have been put on a 2 week pathway

Who told you 20 week wait and when you were told

You've been to pals to no avail

Point out the obligations under the guidelines and NHS constitution.

Etc etc.

The squeaky hinge, gets the oil !!!

..actually do send a copy to the care quality comission and point out 4+ weeks have already elapsed to date.

Absolutely unbelievable, get onto Ombudsman of your local health board too and mention the NICE guidelines,good luck x
