Anxious - one stop shop and suspicious lump/inflamed lymph

I have a 5month old and a 3year old- o found a large hard lump on my left breast the other week- went straight to GP who said she wasn't concerned due to my age (35) history (no breast cancer) and believed it to be a blocked milk duct and wanted it checked.

After two week wait I went to one stop today, first I was examined then sent in for ultrasound I was told o was too young for a mammogram. Whilst getting the ultrasound I could tell there was an issue- the radiographer spent ages and kept going g under my armpit too. He then said he wanted to take biopsies. He took quite a few from my breast and my lymph nodes. He then put clip/tags in to show up on mammogram. I'm then sent in for a mammogram- again o knew this seemed like bad news. I heard other women being discharged from waiting room with 'results are all clear so your discharged' o was asked back into consultation room.

i was told that I had some calcification in my lump that were suspicious and I had inflamed lymph nodes. She said by suspicious they mean possibly cancer. She said it could be hormonal stuff from recently having a baby but couldn't say either way. I now have a 12 day wait- I'm petrified mainly for my babies. I'm praying for the best but preparing for the worst. I know from reading on here- the word suscipous tends to be cancer.

Does anyone have similar stories (good or bad news welcome) thank you

*diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma her2+ /3 lymph nodes involved on 18/4/23-starting chemo soon then surgery with herceptin. I've since discovered the waiting is worse than the news. Once you have a treatment plan you feel much better (strangely)

  • Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you're having to go through this time of anxiety waiting for biopsy results. I hope and pray that it turns out not to be cancer. I was also told my imaging looked suspicious and the follow up letter to my GP indicated malignancy. I was diagnosed a couple of weeks later. I have completed 7 cycles of chemo, which was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, and there was no visible cancer on the MRI I had after 6 cycles. I've just had a lumpectomy and lymph node clearance, and will have radiotherapy to kill off any microscopic cells and reduce the risk of recurrence. You did the right thing going to your GP straightaway. I just wanted to reassure you that treatment is excellent these days and you'll be well looked after should you get a diagnosis. I'm sure others will add their own positive stories. Unfortunately, there are not many who come back and say their biopsies came back as negative for cancer, so most people here will have had a diagnosis. Do let us know how you get on and know that we're all here to support you and answer any questions. Sending you a big hug x

  • Thank you for your quick reply, and your positivity- I'm so pleased your treatment is going well and does give me comfort/ thank you x

  • What a lovely message x

I found a firm lump on my neck they said it was full so waiting on results.

  • Just following up on this thread, Dean, and wondering how you got on? Amy x

  • Hi Amy,

thank you for your reply. unfortunately, I got a call from my doctor  yesterday, asking me to go and see him and also told me that I need you to bring my wife with me. when I got to the hospital I was told the biopsy hasn't come back yet, but the MRI suggest that is lymphoma. So ct scan tomorrow and a  anthor biopsy before they comfirm.in my eyes they basically said I have it. The crazy thing is I feel ok. I will be ready for the battle ahead. I don't know to much about lymphoma but will have to do a little research on it. how are you at the moment?

    Dean X
