Breast lump

Hi All,

I've been so worried, I found a lump in my breast last October, its very hard and under my nipple. I was referred to the breast clinic and I was told by the consultant that it felt like a blocked milk duct. I had a ultrasound but they could not see it on the scan but he could feel it, the surgeon said he would need to check with the consultant because he thought a biopsy was needed. The consultant said he was confident it was a blocked duct and that was the end.

I later returned to the gp because I was so worried with no real confirmation. I had another appoiment, the consulatant said it felt like a cyst, had a ultrasound and was told it can't be seen and they cannot biopsy what they can't see although she could feel it. I was told not to worry and that I didn't need to return but if it got bigger to go back to the gp

I have been so worried because no one has confirmed what it is and I feel stupid to go back again. I have a long family history and my mum has cancer insitu that she was told was a blocked duct.

Am I worrying to much? Should I go back?

Xx

  • Hi Houli88! Welcome to the forum. First let me say that I am not a doctor but I have had breast cancer and know first hand what a stressful time it is. If I were you I would definitely go back again and tell your GP, or maybe a different one if possible, that you are still worried. I had a similar situation where it took a different GP to really listen to me and make the correct referral after my original GP let me down badly. You must do whatever it takes for your peace of mind especially as you have a family history of breast cancer. All being well it will turn out to be a blocked duct but you need to be sure. Don't feel embarrassed or silly to keep going back - it is your body and your mental health at stake.

Hope this helps. Do let us know how you get on, wishing all the best,

    Kindest regards, Mog, xx
