I had a wonderful experience at the breast clinic, my doctor was one of the loveliest doctors I think I've ever seen.
And I have some good news and some big questions marks which means I'm not out of the woods yet and I'm certainly not discharged.
First of all where I feel a "knot" or some kind of mass, there isn't. It's thickened milk ducts, which is giving me the pulling sensation and hard feeling.
The radiographer (who I honestly didn't have loads of confidence in) said it was ductal ectasia.
I then was taken back to the consultant who ask me if I smoked - no, never. And then he was like well judging by your history... you're incredibly young to be having duct ectasia... he was pretty confused by the results
Basically i am not being discharged and instead I'm being seen again in 3 months for the works again to see if anything has changed. In his words, its one scan, in one point of time and things can get missed. He mentioned maybe an MRI.
my question is, can duct ectasia be misdiagnosed for DCIS? would an MRI be able to see it clearer then by ultrasound?
don't get me wrong I'm very happy it's not something aggressive or anything like that but do still feel somewhat in limbo because I told him something just doesn't feel right in my breast.
