Breast Clinic Referral - how do they contact you for appt?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how you guys heard from your local breast clinic. Was it a letter or did you get a phone call for the appointment? I went to my GP literally the afternoon before christmas, checked that the referral was sent through when I went for bloods on tuesday (although not 100% sure I know which hospital since I'm new to the area). I was warned before Christmas it would take a little longer for my appointment to come through because I guess the strain on my local health authority and christmas. Not sure if I should be expecting a phone call or letter.

Thanks!

    Hi Missamerica,

I was initially referred by my GP and got the appointment through the post within 2 weeks. Some people have got theirs sooner by phone. There is a lot of pressure on these clinics and they like to fill up any cancellations if at all posible.

Throughout the past few years, there have been delays in some parts of the country due to Covid and the holiday could well delay things a little longer. Here's hoping that your area is running to schedule and your appointment comes through soon.

You may not get a diagnosis at your first appointment. This is when some scans and a possible biopsy are taken and we then wait a further 1-2 weeks to get the results of these back. I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
