I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for biopsy results for suspected melanoma. We know from other posts here on the forum that lots of people are waiting longer than 6 weeks for their results. 

There's certainly no harm in giving the department or team secretary a call to find out when you may hear some news. Having a time frame to work to may help you cope with the waiting. 

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat with one of our nurses for some support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (excluding bank holidays).

I understand your concern. Unfortunately, how long a biopsy takes to return, has no bearing on the outcome of the results. I was told that mine would be back within 2 weeks, then got an appointment through the post for 9 weeks. Fortunately, I was back in the clinic the following week to get some stitches out and I mentioned this to the nurse, who removed them. She had been present when the biopsy was taken. She told me that the plastic surgeon was in the clinic at that time and went to ask him. He duly phoned his secretary and was able to tell me that both sites were clear.

Like you, my results were running into the holiday period, which can always delay things. I agree with Jenn. There is no harm in phoning your consultant's secretary to see if the results are back yet.

   Thank you for replying. Yes I think the holiday period doesn't help and I think I'll call the secretary next week to see if anything is back. Glad You're biopsies came back clear. I will let you know when I hear anything
