Been for biopsy on fibroademna and worrying

Hi, I found a lump just above my nipple on my right breast. Went to GP and was sent to breast clinic on 2 week urgent list, had the appointment on Tuesday. At the appointment when the nurse done the examination she told me it was nothing and that I could have my ultrasound then go home however whilst getting the ultrasound the tech said he had to do a biopsy because of what he was seeing (never explained anything further) I was then biopsied and sat in a private room where the doctor explained that the biopsy would tell me if it was cancer or a fibroademna... she said she was sure it was just a fibroademna but had to do the biopsy because of what the ultrasound showed. I get my results on Thursday and I'm extremely anxious about the results. I'm convinced it is cancer... firstly being put on the 2 week list, the way they spoke to me in the clinic, how gently they were putting me in the private room etc. and I also have a few other symptoms such as fatigue, exhaustion, migraines and sudden weight loss. I just feel so overwhelmed and anxious

has anyone else had a similar experience? Or what would you be thinking in my position thank you!

  • Hello CourtneyG16

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently attended the breast clinic and that whilst you were there a biopsy was carried out. It's perfectly natural that you're feeling anxious ahead of your results on Thursday.

The large majority of people who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer so try to remain positive until you are told any different. It sounds positive that the specialist still felt that there's a possibility it's not cancer. Whilst it's understandable that you're concerned about your fatigue, exhaustion, migraines, and weight loss, I know that many of our members will have experienced similar symptoms whilst waiting for results. Stress can take a big toll on the body.

If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses ahead of your appointment on Thursday you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Courtney and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
