Wait for biopsy results

Hi everyone, I found a lump I'm my right breast a couple of weeks ago, I've seen the doctor who referred me to the breast clinic ,I had a mamagram and ultrasound on Friday, she took 3 biopsys of the lump and 2 from my lymph node under my right armpit .I'm now waiting for my results ,been told to ring Friday if I don't hear anything .Is it more likely to be cancer with having the lump and a lump in my lymph  nodes to .my anxieties are through the roof with worry .Thanks for reading.

  • Hi [@SD70]‍ i hope you don't mind me jumping on here. I was diagnosed with stage one oestrogen positive breast cancer when I was 52 after being on HRT for just 6 months. In hindsight, there had been lots of indicators a long the way that my body and oestrogen didn't rub along as well as they should! I was diagnosed as a result of a mammogram and although there was no lump to feel, the area was tender. I had from memory, over 10 biopsies and was told to make an appointment in 2 weeks time to get the result. That was pre Covid and Pre consultants working to rule and pre all the staff shortages. That two weeks was the worst part. The not knowing is awful. Even though my diagnosis was cancer, a weight was lifted because I had a plan. So, I really feel for you. I had a double mastectomy and was absolutely thriving. Then after two years, I now have a tumour on my thyroid. I had a biopsy in May and was told I might / might not have cancer because abnormal cells were present. I was told I would need an operation to remove it within 4 months. Sadly that time has come and gone. So I asked for another biopsy and have now been waiting a further 3 weeks. I feel those of us in the waiting room, with a feeling of being in limbo, need a support group of our own . I joke that the cancer is unlikely to kill me but all this waiting around will. I just wish we could wave a magic wand and cancer services went back to how they were. I feel for everyone- the medical staff, us and our families. So in a nutshell, I get your worry. I hope this next week flys by and that you have a positive outcome. X

  • Thankyou cazstu,I'm sorry for what your going through ,my husband has lost his mum ,brother and sister to cancer before we met ,and me finding this lump has put a massive strain on our family. I will be glad of the results like you were .I've been on hrt 5.6 years .Did they just take biopsies from the lump ? I've had 3 taken from the lump and 2 from an enlarged gland in my armpit .I didn't have any pain just tender feeling in my bust so I checked for a lump and found it .where was yours ? Mine is just above the nipple area ,its 35mm long .I just want the results so I can deal with what's happening ,10days since my scans ,the wait seems very long .I'm sorry your still waiting ,please let me no how you get on .take care.SD XX .

  • Mine was twenty something mm and was about an inch above the nipple. They scanned the armpit but didn't take any biopsies.  Please remember that it's the people that have cancer that tend to stay on this forum. There have been many that get told it wasn't cancer and then leave. That said, I know that worry stops us from seeing sense and logic at times so Im just  going to say I hear and feel your pain. I hope you have a positive outcome x

  • Sounds like mine is in the same place, I just want the phone call Thursday night then I can see what  dealing with .I'm pretty calm about it ,I've read up lots and have written a list of questions if I get told uts cancer .Thankyou for taking the time to message me ,it helps having someone to talk to .SD XX

  • You're welcome. Good luck for Thursday xx
