17mm lining

Hi everyone

i hope everyone who has been waiting for their results got good news!

 

I had a vaginal ultrasound scan on Thursday and was told my womb lining is too thick (17mm) and would need to see gynocologist. I saw her that night (same lady who removed benign polyps for me 2 years ago).

she told me she would need to do further investigations and said I will need booking in for a general for her to see what's what!! 
 

I said I had spent the afternoon googling and she then asked had I scared myself silly. I said no, I just needed to know best and worst case scenario.

 

since then I have barely slept. I can't see people as I can't hide the fact I am worried sick. I am always a glass half full type of person but my Mum passed away with pancreatic cancer in 2018 and ever since then I have become utterly paranoid about the big C.

 

my symptoms were brown/black jelly like discharge nearly every day, bleeding in between periods, spotting and I think I am perimenapausal and have been for 4 years!

 I Darnt tell anyone as I don't want them to worry like I am when it maybe ok.

 

the fact the gynaecologist said to me 'scans can be wrong' worried me more!

 

anyway, I am getting the hysteroscopy booked on tomorrow, let's hope it gets done asap.

    Hi, I'm sorry to hear of your Mum's passing. When you see someone close to you go through the cancer battle and eventually it takes them, it can leave us especially concerned when we develop symptoms which could possibly be cancer. It is so devasting and such a shock. 

    At the age of 47 I started bleeding and did not stop. It got heavier and heavier and I had a tv ultrasound. My endometrium was 24mm and appeared cystic. I then had a d&c and hysteroscope and a mirena coil fitted. The results of the hysteroscope was 'disordered proliferative endometrium'. I didn't have any polyps or fibroids. There were no cancerous cells and no hyperplasia. The bleeding continued and I was given oral progesterone. I am still bleeding, but it is mostly just streaking with a couple of days of clots now and then 18months after it began. I am awaiting a hysterectomy.

    So, I tell my story to show you that our symptoms are not always due to cancer. They still aren't pleasant, and I have fainted a few times due to heavy blood loss, but it is not cancer. 

    I hope you get your hysteroscopy very soon and that the results are positive for you. x

    Thank you so much Sara, that is really reassuring. I have terrible bleeding too where I can't leave the house!
