Cervical cancer ..

Where to start just wanted to know what where everyone's first symptoms of cervical cancer .

Roll back to 2020 I had a abnormal smear which was hpv positive and low to moderate cell changes . Had colocospy  and a polyp removed and given all clearly ans was due another 12 months later. But then I fell pregnant . I had my baby in March this year .

My periods got back to normal in the 2nd month qfter birth.

July I noticed spotting on and off . Extra discharge that wasn't normal for me and and now this month I've Been jeering for 15.days none stop .

Went to doctors today and they did all the unpleasant checks  and got to go up hospital for further test Friday. She said she is concerned.  I had bloods done which should get results tomorrow.  I asked about cervical cancer qnd she just said let's see what the other tests show .

Did anyone else's symptoms present like this and it be cervical cancer.

Thing is I'm q single mum to 5 kids.  My partner left last month as he can't handle my asd son. If it is cancersont think I can have treatment because no one to help with kids

  • Hi. So sorry that you're going through this scary time. I know it's easier said then done, but please try not to worry. Even if it is cancer, and remember it may not be, there are treatments. I had cervical cancer over 25 years ago, still here!
Are there any family members or friends that could help you? It must be hard dealing with this alone and so don't be afraid to ask for their support. I'll be thinking of you Friday, please let me know how you get on. In the meantime, I'm here if you need a chat x

  • I have not had cervical cancer, just abnormal cells removed. I don't think anyone here can tell you, based on your symptoms whether it is or isn't cancer. The test they do will determine that, and they are moving fast on it.

The treatment could be a hysterectomy and radiotherapy if it did turn out to be cancer. If that is the case, then you would need help with your young children who still need to be lifted up. Also with things like shopping. You are not supposed to lift more than 7lbs in the first couple of weeks after hysterectomy. Try and call upon other family members...and even Dad should come back and help out. If not, you may be able to get support from Social services. I am awaiting a hysterectomy, so I know it is worrying to wonder how you will cope post operatively. I don't think the hospital stay is very long, and if it is done laproscopically then healing time is a lot shorter.

Obviously,  I hope for you that it doesn't turn out to be cancer and is just minimal cell changes that can be treated a lot easier. But if you want to 'prepare' then ask as many questions as you can and get a support system around you, should it be needed.
