Diabetic sugar levels and prostrate cancer

Hi, my husband is currently waiting for some tests on his bladder, he has had a few problems with his water works for ages, he is having a camera in his bladder next week and also a CT scan, he is a type 2 diabetic, his blood sugar has always been pretty good and managed with meds but the last week his blood sugar has gone really high, my question is does the prostate gland if it has a tumour would that affect  his blood sugar to rise is there a link between the two things.

    Hi There,

    Sorry to hear of your husband's difficulties at the moment. 

    My husband has had prostate cancer since 2014, and as far as I know it would not have any effect on blood sugar. The two things are not connected. The best way to check all is well with the prostate is for something called a PSA test, it measure blood levels of prostate hormone.

    Hi thank you, just really trying to join the dots to be honest things seem to be going a bit all over the place, we have paid to see the urologist despite telling the gp about blader problems for ages they don't seem to think it's a concern they have never checked his prostate, then a few weeks ago he was was unable to control his bladder at all, things seemed to have settled, the urologist said he thought there were some red flags, next week he will look into his bladder with a camera then do a CT, if these problems are just natural ageing he is 73 that's fine but I am not ready to take that without taking a good look at the situation first.

    Oh goodness, I'm sorry about this for you.

    I can't understand why they haven't just checked the PSA! it's just a simple blood test. It might be worth your husband literally being direct with the GP and asking for one. 

    Hopefully they will soon find the reason for all this havoc, for both of your peace of mind.

    Hi I've had prostate cancer over 6 years now never any problems with blood sugar. 

    Hope things can get sorted for your husband soon us on here know the mind can go into overdrive.
