Cervical Cancer Symptoms

Hi,

I was just looking for some advice.
I started spotting in between periods last year, ultrasound was normal and as I was 8 months PP it was put down to breastfeeding/hormones settling down.

I have had yearly smears for a few years as I had 1 abnormal. This years smear tested positive for HPV but no abnormal cells found on further investigation.

Ive always had fairly light periods. For the last 3 months I have been bleeding heavily with lots of clots for 2/3 weeks at a time. Bleeding after intercourse and spotting in between periods.
I've had a constant dull ache in my back and my pelvic bones are achey. I also get pain in my lower abdomen.
Ive also discovered a small bump on my cervix that wasn't there before my smear.
Always tired with no energy but no weight loss.

I have an appointment on Friday with my GP. Did anyone have any similar symptoms?
I'm 34 with a 1 & 5 year old.

Thanks

  • Good luck with your appointment. I think it is a disgrace that women are left with such symptoms for so long and expected to just endure them. That is why there was a recent change in parliament. I hope you get an ultrasound and any other tests you need to get to the bottom of it. There are many causes of abnormal bleeding.

Personally, I have had daily bleeding for 18 months...sounds surreal when I think of how much time has passed. I had a DNC and hysteroscopy in July 21 and no abnormal cells. I had a very thickened endometrial lining and was bleeding very heavily, causing fainting on several occasions. I am still awaiting a hysterctomy, but am managing the symptoms with a double dose of the progesterone-only pill daily, which has reduced the bleeding to just streaking. But, I have no fibroids, no polyps and no cysts and no real explanation as to why my endometrium is constantly proliferating.

I also have pelvic and lower back pain, but I do get extreme pelvic pain due to IBS, which is mostly kept under control with daily medication.

The only 'advice' I could give you is to take daily iron tablets as the extra bleeding can cause anaemia, and tiredness. Most likely, your doctor will test for that. I just get multi-vitamins and minerals from Wilko which have 100% of the recommended daily allowance.

All the best for some answers and relief from your symptoms.
