Referred to breast specialist

Hi, I've had pain in my left breast for a few months. No lumps. At first the pain was intermittent, but it's there all of the time. I saw my GP on Friday and she said that my breast had a lot of prominent blue veins leading to my nipple and it looked different to my right nipple. Just wondered if anyone has had these symptoms and what the outcome was. Thank you

  • I'm sorry about the pain you've been having in your breast and for the worry this and the doctor's reaction to the appearance of your breast is causing Cazzyjojo.

I know this must be scary but you are not alone as many of our members have been through this process and hopefully some of them will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon.

We're thinking of you Cazzyjojo and will have our fingers crossed all goes well at your referral.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you Steph that was kind of you to reply. Take care Carol

  • [@Cazzyjojo]‍ any word on your appointment yet?

  • Hi Pauline, I've got a mammogram this Wednesday (3rd) and an appointment for the surgical dept this Saturday (6th) My letters don't contain any information so not sure what the appointment is for on Saturday.

Thank you for checking in with me. X

  • Hi Carol,

that's good news! At least things are moving for you. How are you feeling about it now? My appointment is 3rd too at the clinic. No idea what will happen but feeling really sick with the worry of it all x

  • Oh I hope your appointment goes well. I was ok until today, but I've been very bad tempered and found it difficult to concentrate. I was going to ask my sister in law to come with me on Saturday, but she's away, so haven't told anyone. I really hope your appointment goes well. I'll let you know how I get on and if you would, let me know how you get on. How are you feeling? X

  • Hi Carol,

Im really worried today. I have convinced myself there is something seriously wrong. Didn't sleep much last night which doesn't help. Got to work today but hopefully it will distract me for a while and at least I'm working from home.
Last time the team at the hospital were really lovely so I've got to trust that they will get to the bottom of this for me. I just can't cope with the stress of it now as it's been going on since February this year. If it's the worst I fear for my family and how they will cope.
Try and get someone to go with you tomorrow?
let's hope and pray all is well for both of us. Please let me know how it goes x

  • I'm so sorry you had a rough night. I was thinking about you. I was in a really bad mood yesterday and as I haven't told anyone, I felt like a real cow. I'm usually very patient. I don't know about you, but I can't concentrate on anything. I went to work today but was on the verge of crying all day. It's not like me. I think it must be the anxiety. That's the worst thing, thinking about the worst and how will our families cope. My son keeps asking if I'm ok I think he knows there's something wrong. He has a brain injury and although he's 20 he wouldn't cope without me and people don't understand his injury. It's so cruel. I hope and pray we both get the answers we are looking for. I'm glad your hospital is good. That's positive. February is a long time to be doing through that worry. I'm so sorry. I will be in touch tomorrow after my mammogram although I don't think they'll tell me anything. Please take care and I will pray you get some peace tonight and a good night's sleep ️

  • Thanks so much Carol. I've been thinking about you too today. We need to remember that we are strong women and whatever gets thrown at us we will cope somehow. I'm so sorry to hear about your son.  You are obviously an incredible mum.

I will pray for us both tonight and that we get good news x

    Speak tomorrow ️X

  • Aww you just made me cry. Thank you so much Pauline. It's so kind of you to reach out to me. It's made it easier for me to deal with. Yes definitely speak tomorrow.  Praying for you and yours ️

  • Hi Pauline, how are you today? I hope you slept better last night? Had the mammogram today. The woman who did it was not very nice, but it wasn't too bad. She told me I would get the results when I see the consultant on Saturday. I did ask if they would do anything else on Saturday as I was going alone and worried in case I couldn't drive back. (I was fishing really to see if she had seen anything on the scan) She just said they may do a biopsy but would probably just be a consultation so I'm hoping that means she's didn't see anything!! I really hope you've had a better day today ️

  • Hi Carol, I had full examination and they found a suspicious area in my upper breast so had an ultrasound thereafter. Thankfully it looks like multiple cysts again and some fat necrosis in upper area.
I am so relieved but they have referred me back to GP to review some of my medications and they reminded me to self check each month and straight back to GP if any concerns.
I am still in pain though but at least now I understand why that area is painful when I lie on it after seeing the scan today.
It's a shame you didn't have a one stop clinic appointment today. I thought that would have been the set up for you too? What a shame you found the mammographies grumpy....why do people behave like that? Really angers me as we are stressed enough!
how are you feeling now? X
