Ultrasound scan has me a little worried.

Hi all. Sorry to bother you 

I've had major cycle changes over the last year progressively getting worse to where I never know if I'm going to have a period miss a period or have two in a month when they do come they are horrendously heavy and painful. Suffering with pelvic pain and also nausea that I can't really explain away. 
 

I'm 40, very overweight and have a few health issues. But my periods have always been bang on from the age of 16 til late summer last year. Previously had a cyst removed and was flagged for hpv a few years ago. 

I had an ultrasound last Monday told yo expect results in a week when I asked before they started. Had a text from my drs Monday evening to say they had my results and would writing to gynaecology. 
 

I have a copy of the report due to having the nhs app and it is showing as abnormal. 
endometrial borders are indistinct,  thickness of 10.2mm which apparently doesn't fit my stage in cycle and Endometrium had a heterogenous appearance. 
 

im not great at waiting around. Asd mum and alot of health issues of my own mean I also have quite severe anxiety due to constantly being on edge. So kind of feeling stuck in limbo nurse did mention they would probably ask my to go for a hystescopy? I'm assuming this is some sort of other test. 

but has anyone had any experience of all this and it turning out to be absolutely nothing. As I'm making myself feel even worse stressing.

    I come across your post thought I reach out to you 

    I had a similar situation to yourself and it's very worry it was about 3 years ago now I was missing periods didn't see one for 3 months so went to my gp and she then referred me for a ultrasound scan which I had then had a letter from gynaecologist department with a appointment and had to be seen in 6 weeks so I freaked out big time as at the time my dad had bowel cancer so I rang my doctor she called me back and apologised saying she should have called me 1st saying my line was thick and needed to be seen in that time my period had come back so had the 1st gynaecologist appointment the guy was amazing said the scan looks fine we will fit the mariner coil and do a biopsy to put it to bed.great my mind was eased then when I had the follow up appointment seen someone else she said can't do coil or biopsy as I neede camera to have a look at the lining so freaked out again so back on the list waited about 9 months for the appointment and it's like a day surgery appointment where I met a lady consultant who was amazing she done the camera took 5 mins and said everything looks absolutely fine then done the biopsy then coil was out in 15 mins and not had a problem since they wrote to me with results and everything was as she said was fine sorry about the long post tried to put as much detail in there for you.

    I know it's a panic but it's pretty routine also and the consultant said it's mainly for future with the mariner as I was 39 myself and that coil keeps your lining thin if you have periods or not but it is very frightening but the hospital was fantastic and the consultant fitted the actual coil as well which was good had cramps for around 1 day now I don't know I have it and it's due to be changed until 

    2024

    I'm going through something too, not exactly the same but I'm a very anxious person too.

     

    I had an ultrasound for pelvic discomfort on 10th June, they said they had found a large fibroid. I'm post menopausal and not on HRT so this has started alarm bells.  I saw a private gynaecologist who scared the life out of me, told me it might be a uterine sarcoma.  I've had no bleeding since my last period 6 years ago. I've recently had blood tests and an MRI and I now have to have a CT scan tomorrow. I'm thinking the absolute worst and my anxiety is like nothing I've ever experienced in my life.  I have frightened myself to death on Google, I can't sleep, feel like I have constant pain (whether this is real or psychological I really couldn't say), I don't want to eat,  i can't go to work, my whole life feels like its stopped so I do understand how you are feeling. 

     

    I hope and pray we both get some good news soon.

    Thank you for replying I really apprieciate it! It's all very stressful isn't it but knowing we aren't alone certainly helps. Google is the absolute worst! It goes straight to worst case and terrifies you all at the same time. Oh bless that consultant sounds a little full on but I suppose he is just doing his job. I have noticed that you seem to get much more straight forward and to the point answers going private than nhs.
     

     I hope you get some answers and good news soon.

    funnily enough I just had the coil removed two years again but was in so much pain because of other conditions the nurse didn't want to put me through too much so we didn't replace it. 
     

    im glad they have managed to sort things for you! Hopefully they can with this too and it's a case of just being cautious.

    Hi Gemma 

    yes it is scary I had the hystescopy and was really worried but it was ok I did have the copper coil that left so much pain and made family planning take it out and don't think that done any favours but had no trouble with the marina at all hope all goes well for you you will be ok let me know how you get on
