Worried about lymphoma

Hi all, I have had a lump on my neck for over a year which has now grown in other places 2x lumps on my neck 1 under my arm. I have an appointment in the cancer unit on Wednesday and I have never been so scared. I have a 2 year old daughter and right now am not worried for myself I am worried for her I didn't bring a child into the world for her to watch me not well. I have tried to research lymphoma but don't seem to find answers. I was looking for positive stories from this horrible illness. This may sound silly as I haven't been diagnosed yet but I don't want to leave my daughter, she's my everything and constantly wants her mum, I feel so guilty that come Wednesday I might suddenly not be able to be there 24 hours a day whenever she needs a cuddle. Like many mothers I tried for my miracle for so long and now I have the most precious girl I just worry.

  • Hello Nicolejt

I'm so sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment. It's perfectly understandable that you're worried about your appointment on Wednesday and what this may mean for not only yourself but your little girl as well.

Many people turn to the internet when looking for information. Unfortunately what we find often happens is that they're left feeling even more anxious and still without any answers. Lots of online sites are inaccurate, outdated, or simply aimed at the spectacular. Try to avoid using Google for now if you can.

I know that many people here will agree that facing the unknown can be a scary prospect and it's natural to think about all possible eventualities. Try to keep busy and just take each day at a time. Hopefully the team will be able to give you some answers and reassurance when you attend your appointment on Wednesday.

If you want to talk things through with one of our nurses ahead of your appointment they'll be back in the office after the weekend on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9 am to 5 pm).

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on next week.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, I have also had raised nodes in my neck/collarbone since Sept 2021. Ultrasound says they are benign. I still worry but I worked myself into a frenzy only to be told they were nothing to worry about.
my dad had lymphoma stage 4, which is actually still very treatable and he is cured and has been in remission 20 years. So please don't jump to conclusions that you are going to leave your lovely baby, even if you are diagnosed with anything.
wishing you lots of luck in your journey and sending hugs xx
