Urgent 2ww referral gynae

Hi, Im a woman 55 who has had the mirena coil for about 15 years now. Last one put in 6 years ago. I was told by the consultant this would be the last one needed. 
I believe I'm in the menopause as have hot flushes etc . But as no bleeding not sure about periods. About a month ago started a discharge which was diagnosed over the phone as infection. Went away but came back and have had show of blood. Had doctors consultation this morning and now booked in for scan on Monday as urgent 2weeks suspicion of cancer. 
man absolutely numb and obviously really scared. 
anyone else any experience of this

    I think it's only natural to be feeling a bit scared and daunted by the 'suspicion of cancer' that has been mentioned but I hope this information we have about urgent referrals will help put your mind at ease.
