Breast lump…

I found a lump in my breast 3 weeks ago. I was seen at the GP just 5 days ago who examined me. She said there is a lump but likely to be a cyst... she described it as a breast mouse. Anyway, she has still referred me to the breast clinic but with a 4-6 week wait in Scotland thanks to the pandemic. 
 

I am 26, I have two young children that I need to be strong around but I'm absolutely terrified. I'm currently typing this as a pain in the suspected breast has appeared and I'm stressing out about it all. I have no history of Breast Cancer in the family. 
 

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

    Just a quick reply as it's late but please be reassured that "Breast Mice" are named as such because they can move around the breast and are usually harmless cysts.

    It is good practice for your GP to refer you for any breast condition , it doesn't sound as if they suspect anything bad.

    Try not to poke at it as that will make it sore, you can also get pain and lumpy breasts for hormonal reasons but always best to get checked out.

    Hi there,

    Sorry that you have found a lump and that you're so worried.  It's always difficult and our minds do tend to wander.  It's great news that your GP isn't overly concerned.  It's pretty standard for GP's to refer everything into the breast clinic for assessment, and very few lumps turn out to be cancer.  Do remember that lumps can be a range of things, cysts etc.

    Try to stay busy to distract yourself.  It's not easy but your worst enemy is Dr Google and over thinking!  Remember that getting things checked out is a positive thing to do and most times it's to rule out any nasties, not confirm them.
