Hi All

Hi
I'm exactly the same as you. I suffer from extreme health anxiety..
But to let you know I had my mammogram on the 25th of march and got the results on the 8th of April. So two weeks..
Good luck x
Thank u glad all is ok
Can I ask please how do you cope with the health anxiety
Hi,
I am also waiting results so understand how anxious you are right now.
It's hard NOT to be anxious about the unknown with or without a recognised Health Anxiety so don't be too hard on yourself, it's a natural way to feel, the issue comes when you give the negative worrying thoughts too much of your time and energy. Health Anxiety can be a type of OCD so if you haven't already got some help with this then seriously consider it as it could really help you going forward.
I have Anxiety/PTSD/OCD/Austistic Traits and therefore anxiety about my health isn't difficult to come by! As a result I have to make a conscious effort to manage my thoughts and most importantly learn to recognise when they're getting out of hand, it's not easy , but you can learn the signs and learn different ways to make yourself feel better and not be a prisoner to your anxiety.
Some really simple , but effective things you can do right now are:
Keep busy, doesn't matter what , just distract yourself. Make a list of things and put on the fridge or on the wall that you can instantly do without having to sit and think of things to do at a time when your anxiety is bad. Can be fun things or jobs that you've been putting off, cleaning projects, phone/email/write a letter to a friend or relative, bake, also anything that is pro physcial health will be good too such as a short walk or some sort of exercise, or things to help mental health such as relaxation meditation, listening to music etc...there is so much you can do to change how you think and feel.
I've seen this advice given on here a lot and it is very good advice: If you MUST look for information then use credible sources only and I would go one further to anyone who had health anxiety to perhaps limit to 30 minutes per day MAX. Dr Google is not your friend if you have health anxiety.
Hope that is helpful to you.
Take care :)
Thank you so much for your help I will try this technique. It is very anxious waiting for results but will try your technique. Good luck with your results I am sure they will be fine
You're very welcome, I know not everyone understands health anxiety and tbete can be stigma attached , but it affects a lot of people. You're not alone
Thank you, I have until 22nd April to wait for my biopsy results unless I can get an earlier date or phonecall appointment.
Today I've washed all of my cushion covers and throws as one of my "keep busy" tasks... can't overdo it though as I have CFS & FMS
Little steps go a long way. Keep going, keep trying.
Do come back and let us know all is well, finger's crossed for you, take care in the meantime.
Hi Fallmare,
I hope all was well with your mammogram.
Have you got any help to manage your health anxiety?
Hello thank you for your reply.I had my routine mammogram on 1/4/22 not yet had results but due to my health anxiety I always think the worse. It is good just to chat to someone I did ring the centre up they still do not have my results. Hope you're results go ok
