Scared Ovarian Diagnosis

Hi, I'm new here and petrified. I haven't had a cancer diagnosis yet so you may think I shouldn't be hear but I'm petrified. I've had bloating for about 4 weeks and after routing blood test an elevated CA125 of over 300. I'm so swollen round my middle and now think it could be ascites not bloating and I feel so stupid and worried that might be a sign I have more advanced cancer. I've got an appt on Monday morning with a gynaecologist. I have a 5 year old and can't even think about what this may mean. Anyone who has been through this or has any advice welcome. Thank you x

  • Hi... that's very kind of you.. ️.. we are all having the same feelings and thoughts at the moment... and if I can help someone feel like they are not on their own and bring them some comfort knowing someone else is there who fully understands.. I'll be here xxx

  • So, yes my blood results came back and they show elevated levels of CA125.  For now, all I can do is wait until the MDT have their meeting on Tuesday next week, but I imagine it will be the start of a load of follow up tests to see what we're dealing with.

    Good luck ladies xx

  • Sorry your bloods came back elevated. I had my MRI scan today so another test out the way, just got to wait until 28th March for the results :-(

Hope everyone manages to enjoy the weekend, I'm going to try and do some meditation (I listen to the calm app but have never really 'meditated', thought it might help relaxation).

    Sending love xxx

  • Big hugs to you ️.. let's all be here for each other.. have a good weekend xxx

  • Hi,

Can I ask how long your waited for diagnosis after scans?

I had a scan on 9/3 and was told I had a very large ovary and other things going on in my womb. 11/3 was called to the doctors who said it was a fast track 2 week referral. Had bloods 14/3, which was ca125 level 44. 15/3 saw gynaecologist who had a look with camera and said many polyps and took a biopsy. Also referred me for an mri which I had on Friday. I thought that was it and would then await an appointment for results but have had a phone call today to say I now need a ct scan tomorrow. Everything is moving fast but am desperate to just know what's wrong and was wondering if I'd know by the end of this week.

  • Hi Tink,

I can't help much, you're a step or two ahead of me at the moment.  Maybe one of the others is further along and can give an idea.

How are you holding up? I was doing ok really until I got my copy of the letter from the colposcopy clinic to my GP which gave the measurements of my ovary.  That was pretty much a gulp moment, I have grapefruit smaller for breakfast!!

  • It's the unknown which is the hardest part. I'm not sure of the exact measurement of my ovary but when I had the transvaginal scan he said it was extremely large

My daughter is 18 in 2 weeks and just need to know what's going on so I can arrange her celebrations.

  • I had my CT scan 14/3 and my MRI 18/3 and am due to get results on 28/3.

Fingers crossed for good results for all, the waiting is awful. I'm also just staying home now until they can sort my abdomen as one of my team asked when I was 'due' as he heard someone talking about me. So upsetting.

  • Hi Tink,I understand completely it's a very worrying time... I've had my scans but have been waiting 4 weeks now to have a colonoscopy which is happening on the 6th of April... as I also have bowel cancer... the consultant explained it was down to backlog with covid... they are pretty quick at getting back to you with the results of your ct/mri scans.. I heard back within the week... they are pretty clued up with what they see on the scans they will probably ring you or ask you to go into the doctor to discuss results and then they will explain what happens next... your in good hands... I know it's hard waiting around for results... let's hope your gear by the end of the week...Take good care xx

  • Hi ladies, I was wondering which health care areas you came under and if that reflects on the times taken.  I'm in the south east.

Des, on a positive note, my mum had bowel cancer which was treated and she's absolutely fine now.  Hers was about ten years ago I think.

I was thinking of writing things down, hoping it would help.  I can imagine it's going to get quite confusing with everything that's going on and it will help to keep things straight.

    sending hugs.
