Irregular bleeding and 2ww referral please help

Hi. I'm 30 in 2 weeks. I have 3 children youngest only been 9months.

So from age 10 I started my period and from that first one I've always been like clock work, even after all my children after 5 weeks periods again like work. I also have the implant in now. But this is my 4th one and again even with them in periods like clockwork.

so to the point Dec 2021 had a normal period finished after 5 days. Then 2 days later I started bleeding again it was more of a pink spotting with blood stained discharge lasted about 3 days. Had intercourse and bleeding started again this time with hip pelvis and Lower back pain. I've now been bleeding since end of dec 2021. Some days it can be a normal period flow. Some days can be pink spotting sone days blood stained discharge I've had 5 days of no bleeding or anything since Dec. And for the past to weeks out the blue my bladder control has gone out the window.

So I swallowed my pride and rang my drs to days ago had a full down below check up she said she can't see any blood but no soon as she took the swabs I bled. She didn't really say much she did what she needed do then we sat down and she said I need to referr you under the 2ww urgent pathway, WHY what is she thinking. She didn't say if she has or hasn't seen anything down there. She booked me in for bloods had them yesterday and had a text yesterday saying if I have no heard from the 2ww by THIS Thursday I must call them.

Has anyone got any advice. I cant eat. I cant sleep I'm a worrier at the best of times but this has thrown me. Any advice or anyone with same Symptoms with a outcome would be greatfully received :(

  • Hi,

Firstly eat, sleep, and stop worrying. X

There are loads of reasons you could have these issues. And none of them need to be cancer.

I was put on 2 week pathway in 2017 as i had a polyp. Polyp are recorded to be 0.3 % of the time cancerous. But theyd rather be safe than sorry.

Huge majority of ladies plumbing type cancers are extremely slow growing, hence why they only do smears 5 yrs apart for most people, so factor in your youngest baby is only 9 months the likelyhood of you having something ' huge' going on is pretty remote.

I know its worrying, but hormones change loads during your lifetime, and the things that worked for you body might stop being right ( the implant etc)

Look on the brightside, 2 weeks is better than sitting worrying for months and you'll be in scanned blood tested and it'll all be fathomed out and sorted with a month.

Its honestly the best thing that could have happened. Some ladies go for months with constant bleeding and pain etc and their gps basically just shrug and expect them to just except it as all part and parcel of being a woman.

    Everything will be fine x

  • Thank your reply. It's just worrying as my mum was 32 when she was diagnosed with cc and she had a 4 month old. But before she fell pregnant smears was all ok. So I think this is where most of my worrying is coming from, I agree Ive been incredibly luckily that my Dr has taken the decision to act promptly as you say some ladies are waiting months I am hoping that now I'm slightly older and hormones have changed it's all down to the implant, I think when gp says urgent I puts everyone in a state of panic mode. I had bloods drew yesterday and was told results will be 48hr but will wait till Friday to call gp so there's a day extra incase there delayed, again thank you so much for your reply
