Finally got my appointment - Terrified

Back in november i found a lump in my underarm, few weeks later I noticed swelling, puckering and inflammation on a patch on my breast, Its about the size of a lemon wedge. I have pain that comes and goes but its every few days!  I got checked out by my GP, put on antibiotics for a week that didnt help and then reffered for the 2WW breast clinic on the 17th of december.

Ive finally got my appointment over a month!! later because of all the delays with covid etc Been going out of my mind!! The first few weeks was really hard as I have a baby boy ( 9 months old ) and the thought of having cancer and leaving him and my husband is heart breaking

I was able to push it to the back of my head for a few weeks through christmas but now ive actually got my appointment the fear is back.. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst I know it's treatable but my nan passed a few years back from it and im just scared!!

  • I am so pleased to see your news! I'm glad all is ok! I had been thinking of you. I can imagine you must be very relieved. I'm so happy too! Take care and enjoy your little boy x

  • I just got a follow up letter today to come back in 4 weeks??

Did you get that? The Dr that saw me was pretty dismissive when i showed her the patch ad it wasnt as red or as raised as it normally is she sent me for a ultrasound " for your own peace of mind "

when I had my ultrasound the patch was super raised and red and i told the lady scanning me that it comes and goes and i was trying to explain that to the doctor but it wasnt as red ar the time, she said she could definately see that my skin was thickened on one side and she'll tell the doctor but everything else looks good and the doctor ( without seeing my results) said i could go!

So now im worried that they've found something or maybe just want to investigate why the skin has thickened?? not sure but im worried agai

  • Oh no, so sorry to hear that and I can imagine it is causing you more stress, especially if they didn't even tell you! Is there a number you can call and query it? I haven't heard anything since, I'm not sure if I will get a letter confirming what was found or not or whether that's it.

It sounds like you didn't have a great experience with the doctor. I have always found some consultants to be like that. It sounds like your hospital do things differently to mine as I had the ultrasound first then discussed it with a doctor. Maybe they just want to check it hasn't got worse or if it has improved etc, but they should have said. I would be the same as you after not being told that would happen especially. I hope you get some answers.

I'm still not 100% happy now either as I keep wishing they had drained my cysts as they're all still there and I'm worried if they don't disappear on their own, I've got to remember where they all are for the future. I've seen a few things saying they usually offer to drain cysts that are obvious to feel but they didn't, even though mine are. I have 4 I can feel so it still worries me with them being there, even though they said just cysts! I just worry I could miss a new lump because of it!

I hope you get some answers about why you have been called back and you're not worrying too much. I'm always here to chat if you want to x
