Breast core biopsy - anxious wait!

Hey everyone,

I have come across this forum and it's awesome!!

I found a pea sized lump in my breast at the end of Nov - went straight to the Drs who suspected a cyst but referred me to breast screening just to be on the safe side.

Appt at the clinic on Tuesday 14th Dec and had mammogram, ultra sound and core biopsy as not a cyst....  Consultant suspects Fibroadenoma and said that I would receive a letter either asking me to return or a letter confirming all was ok....

Received a letter through the post today asking me to return to the clinic on New Years Eve - called and asked for more information and she just said it's to get your results - the consultant prefers to give results face to face!

I am not sure how I am going to cope through Christmas, I am so anxious and overthinking everything!!

And driving my husband insane!!

  • The waiting is always the worse bit but try not to worry as my husband keeps reminding me what will be will and worrying won't change the result and until you get the result enjoy trashy hallmark Christmas movies, alcohol and chocolate!

I was in your position at the beginning of December. I had 4 core biopsies taken but I wasn't given any indication of what they could be so I drove myself mad with overthinking. A week after they called to say results were in and set an appt for the following week. 1 of my lumps is a fibroadenoma however the other 3 (2 in breast and 1 in my armpit) are cancerous but I'm oddly ok with that.

They can usually tell by the ultrasound (and it was really obvious with mine that they were cancerous) and the biopsies are just their way of double checking

Try not to drive hubby insane and good luck for new year's Eve

  • Indeed the waiting, fear of the unknown and uncertainty are the worst!

Thank you for replying to my post - truly means the world....  I will certainly be watching lots of movies, eating loads and drinking even more alcohol!!  I am a personal trainer so the break will be very welcome to be honest!

Glad you are ok with your results and that the treatment plan is sorted for you...

Thank you again and have an amazing Christmas xx
