Basal Cell Carcinoma follow up

Hi All,

I had a Mole removed 3 weeks ago. The consultant who saw me originally said before removal it was definitely skin cancer. I was surprised they could tell just by looking under the dermatoscope. When I went a week after to have the biopsy the consultant was lovely and put my mind at rest and said 'I would be really surprised if it's anything other than a Basal Cell Carcinoma and I'm predicting that when I get the results I will just be sending you a letter saying it's a BCC and no further treatment required.'  However, I called the secretary today as I had heard nothing and she said a letter had been posted today asking me to attend an appt in a weeks time to discuss my results. Should I be concerned that it's not what the consultant had predicted (eg a simple letter) or is this just the normal procedure?

  • Hello Pinklady,

Iam sending you hugs and so much love.

If you feel overwhelmed, take someone with you to the appointment and try not to overthink about it.

  • Thank you. Yes hubby wants to come with me, so I won't be alone. X

  • Attended my appt, unfortunately it was a stage 1A Melanoma, having my WLE on Monday. Really positive about prognosis though. Our NHS are amazing!

  • Good morning, I am glad to hear you got the results. The medical team are great and remember the decision is made on a team meeting of oncologists.

That is assuring. I encourge everyone to listen to their body and get checked regularly.

You are never alone on here. My case, I WAS PERFECTLY FINE. No illness, nothing of signs.

Called GP and said I need to have mammogram, she dismissed because i had no signs. She quickly said "we book appointments if a patient has cancer signs..."

well, my head told me to get checked and couple of weeks later I did have a mammogram and even with that the team was reluctant. Straight away they found DCI. I was following my head.

Further tests - found HERS3. I have had chemo every week for 4months. Then 4 courses of AC. Then operation/lumpectomy. Then 3 weeks of everyday radiotherapy. I am doing fine. Faiths is important and remain positive.
