Hi I do understand I'm HER2 positive,I've had nine scans,mri and ct scans I had 6 months of chemo,then had an op to remove the lump and lymph nodes under my arm.I've now been told to have to have radiotherapy then 8 months of the oral chemo,my name is not lucky lol,you just have to keep strong and stay positive x

Ive been where you are just now; the shock, the anger, the confusion, the denial, the realisation and then the anxiety. It really is rubbish!

Im 36, 2 kids, diagnosed Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer. My first operation is on Tuesday, where they will also be doing a sentinel node biopsy (my lymph nodes looked okay on ultasound) but this is needed to make sure. Depending on the outcome will decide my next treatment pathway.

Much like yourself im still at the very beginning of the journey (although diagnosed in May, 2nd biopsy etc have held up operation date).

I have found trying not to look to far forward helps, one step at a time. There are some fantasic forums, like this one, with similar cancer buddies for support. Also Instagram has a great community with lots of great links to bios & podcasts etc.

Try not to google, easier said than done i know, says the google queen right here ‍♀️! But it really does provoke anxiety. Know that your not alone, and put your faith in your oncology/surgical team.

My wife was exactly the same situation as you, at a similar age- 36.

You'll be fine- the oncologost and the doctors know exactly what theyre doing. 

Yes, you'll have to have chemo, but they give you so many drugs to prevent the side effects, which makes it so much more bearable. My wife even managed to go back to work and fit exercise classes in around her chemo sessions. 

The next six months will be tough, but you can get through it. Keep the faith.

I'm just behind you in this rather unwanted journey!

I'm 42, have 3 young children and have just been diagnosed with invasive lobular cancer. It's ER+ & am just waiting to hear HER2 status. They think it's 19mm on USS but I have an MRI on Tuesday & I know that given the nature of lobular that things could all change. MDT a week on mon & our meeting straight after that to have exact plans confirmed. I really feel all this waiting is the hardest!

I have now had a single Mx and ANC and it wasn't pleasant but manageable pain so far. Still groggy but arm movement exercise started and movement is tender but not as restricted as I expected. First step on road to health hopefully.
