Anyone similar?

Hello

ok so I would love to hear from anyone with similar journey to me

ER+ 8/8 HER2- Grade 3 with a greater than 30mm tumor I belive Stage IIA (nodes not considered involved)  prior to wide excision node biopsy with theraputic mamoplasty

I have a very large under arm to centre of my breast zigzag scar

I am 1.5 weeks post op and now driving myself nuts trying to preempt whats next.

Already started on Letrzole as I am postmenopause following a total hysterectomy and bilat oophingectomy 4 years ago

my mamo two years ago was clear and when I found the lump I was genuinely expecting to be told it was a cyst.  my breast nurse is amazing but my consultant forgets I am a midwife and not one of his students sometimes. In a very short space of time I have gone from normal to surgery and full blown menopause which on occassion it a bit overwhelming.

I am not a dramtic person however I am struggling with menopause after stopping HRT and starting Letrozole.  I am expecting to be told radiotherapy but due to the size and grade of the tumour am thinking chemo may also be on the cards.  I would just like to get my head semi perpared for the next MDT meeting as emotionally I am very up and down, especially as I feel I am letting my colleague at work down  because most of the time I feel like a fraud.

Thank you in advance

Jules

  • Hi Jules

I have my results app later this afternoon

I will be told whether it's straight to radiation. Or whether any more surgery or chemo is required prior to this.

I was diagnosed with Grade 2. Hormone + HER2 - Invasive on 4th May.  I'm two weeks post op. I had a 3cm tumor removed. Plus I had microcalcifications. This took the area to a 7cm mass plus margins. I have a scar across top of my nipple down side of boob to where it meets my body. I also have a scar under my arm from where they removed a lymph node that showed some readings from the isotope injection I had prior to the op.

I will keep you posted as to what results I get later today.

    Sending love. Sarah xx

  • oh good luck

I haven't had the full report yet.  my scar looks like a very large harry potter mark

    lol

  • So ... Got my results

I'm technically cancer free. Nothing in my lymph nodes. And he got clear margins all round. So no more surgery!

Awaiting oncologist appointment now - next Friday. This will determine whether I need chemo. As further prevention. Or whether I go straight to radiation.

I feel so thankful. I was only diagnosed 8 weeks ago!

Here's to positive stories in what really is a hideous journey.

    Lots of love xxx

  • so that seems like good news

I was at only diagnosed 2 weeks before sugery on the 14th June

what grade and size was your tumour?

I have a results appoinment on 29th June and not sure if I will have my oncology discussion there.

i am already on the antihormone treatment and definately know there will be radiotherapy just unclear on the Chemotherapy and that is driving me nuts however I also realise that i am only about 6 weeks in

    take care x

  • ignore my questions about size ect I am in the twighlight zone lol

  • Hi Honey.

They re-graded mine today. Initially grade 2. Now grade 3. Does change anything though.

I am same as you now. Just awaiting chemo decision.

Wishing you all the best. Sarah xx

  • Hi so all my appointments have been delayed as they have sent off for onco score.

    How are you doing

  • Morning.

I'm currently sat at the drop in clinic. I'm due to see my surgeon. My scar is refusing to heal in one particular place. Weeping constantly! I'm 6 weeks post op now. Rest of scar has healed beautifully. Can't get back into swimming until this bit heals. Saw nurse on Friday last week and she said really surgeon needs to see/advise. Hence I'm here!

Apart from this ... I saw the oncologist last week. Def radiation 2 x 5 day rounds. Hormone tablets too. Not started them. And my cancer too has gone off to USA for the onco test! I get my results on 19th but have had my chemo sessions booked in ready if I need it. They are due to start on 6th Aug x 4 sessions every 21 days.

When do you get your results honey?

    Love Sarah xxx

  • Wow that's all really organised.  Sorry to hear its not healing as well.  Are you letting the air get tonight?

My lot are so laid back.  They won't do anything till they have the score back but then I knownthey will.move quick x

Hope it comes back good x

  • I have these special dressings that aid healing. I can't really let air get to it as it drips everywhere! Yuk!

Saw my nurse she said it's doing really well even though she knows it's frustrating for me. She wants to see me again on Friday. I'll keep you posted.

Let me know your updates too xxx
