My Dad's been diagnosed with throat cancer at 80

Hi everybody, I happened to come across your chat site when looking for information to pass to my 80 year old Dad who has been diagnosed with throat cancer. He has been told he will be having radiotherapy. Waiting for his appointment to start the journey. He has no symptoms, just by chance they found he had cancer. Any word of wisdom would help x

  • Hello Katebe

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's recent diagnosis. It's obviously a worrying time for you both.

We've quite a few members here who have had radiotherapy for different oral cancers. I'd suggest having a look at posts by [@RadioactiveRaz]‍ , [@Taff123]‍ and [@Anchor1707]‍ . All these members have been through treatment but have also written personal blogs sharing their experiences. I'm sure you'll pick up some tips from these members. You might also like to have a look at this information on our website.

You're also most welcome to give our term of nurses a call for some advice and information. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope this helps and send my best wishes for your Dad's treatment.
