Too many questions

Hi, this is my first post. My husband has stage 4 spindle cell sarcoma with mets in pelvis bone marrow, lymph nodes, ribs, lungs and spine.
He was diagnosed in January and is currently having 3 weeks high dose radiotherapy to try to help with the pain.
He's taking Oramorph when he needs it, Pregablin for nerve pain, Fentanyl patches 25mg, Naproxen, and some gut lining protection tablets, Lorazepam was prescribed today. He has hypercalcaemia too.  Due to Covid, we have no direct or face to face support from Macmillan, or similar. He has to attend his appointments alone and the oncology specialist nurse we're supposed to have is on maternity leave snd nobody is covering her.
I just really want to know what to expect in his final months, what will the deterioration look like? Can he stay at home? Will his lungs stop working? Will his heart give out? Is he at risk of falling? Passing out?

please, if anyone can help me understand all this I'd be very grateful

  • Hello Purplefleur

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis and very sorry to hear that you've not had the support that you would have had normally.

It's obviously an incredibly difficult time for you both and it's understandable that you want to have more information so that you can be prepared.

Can I suggest that you give our team of nurses a call after the bank holiday weekend when they're back in the office. Whilst they may not be able to answer all your questions they will certainly be able to help with some information as well as advice about who to contact to get some further support for you both. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040. Do give them a call.

Stay in touch Purplefleur and we'll do our best to offer some support.

    Best wishes,
