1st light treatment

Hello, guys

I am a 37 y.o. male and I have also been recently diagnosed with Mycosis fungoides, luckily stage 1A. I've been having dry skin pathes for over 10 years and never though it could be this, it never bothered me except the esthetic  part of it. Just started my light treatment 2 days ago, and my pathes are already  red and very itchy. If there is anyone here who went through this I would really appreciate their feedback regarding their experience.

News like this completely change  your life and your perspective over life. Hope everyone here will be the winner and the end of the fight. All the best

  • Good luck! there's 2 kinds of phototherapy wavelengths UVA and UVB,well 3 if you count UVC but it's not used on people's skin, the UVA is stronger but I must say that it never worked for me but my stage is 2B  is the advanced type of Mycosis Fungoides and I need radiation (Gamma Rays) and chemotherapy now.1A is the beginning so in a way you are lucky that they have discovered it when I was 1A I, and the doctors, thought I had ezecma.i have read that only about 30 percent of people progress beyond the indolent stages but I don't know how true that is?you have to be very careful with skin infections too as the damaged skin infects easily plus from what I can figure out it, Mycosis Fungoides,is attacking the immune system.i think that 1A has almost an average life expectancy so, assuming it doesn't progress, it'd like living with ezecma or psoriasis....not ideal better than the alternative! it's graded to 4B with sub grades in the 4s but non of the others.for some reason 2 is where the split between the indolent stage and the advanced cancer is so 2A is indolent and 2B advanced.

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply. This is very helpful. I also wanted to know how this patches reacted under long exposure to UVB. I am a bit concered as after only 30 sec in the light box, the patches are all alert and very itchy. My main concern before I decided to go through with this treatment was that the disease might come back more agressive after the treatment but it was only an assumtion of mine, I guess we are all different and our bodies react accordingly. Hope all goes well with you, Canopus7. Take care

  • I don't know how the patches react to UVB light at stage 1A as never had any UV light treatments until I was diagnosed with Stage 2B Mycosis Fungoides in December 2019 prior to that I was just on Betnavate,Dermovate and emmolient creams as they thought that I had ezecma and then psoriasis.they used UVA on me when Mycosis Fungoides infiltrate was discovered due to tumours forming and it didn't work one bit. It's the wavelength of light long to short; UVA is long and thus penetrates deeper,UVB medium and won't go in as far,UVC short and won't penetrate human skin.i first noticed my problem in 2006 and the GP thought it was ezecma as it got worse they then in about 2017 decided it was psoriasis but in 2019 big tumours formed on my left hand leading to the amputation of a finger and they discovered what it actually was so with me it took about 14 years to progress from 1A to 2B.

  • Canopus7, I am so sorry to hear all this. Hope all goes well with you and the rest of us here. I heard a professor on the news not long ago saying to a breast cancer patient that he is confident that in his lifetime will see a cure for cancer, and he was in his late 60's so I remain optimistic that medical research is close to achieve remarcable treatments. All the best

  • Not to be negative but did a similar doctor say such a thing 50 years ago!? remember we have bases on Mars now too!
