Had results today from biopsy on tonsil and now know its cancer, its all been really quick what with scans and hospital visits so not really had time to think about it now it's just starting to sink in but I'm pretty positive, I'm told its spread to a lymph node has anyone else had this

I am sorry to hear your diagnosis, but the first thing I would say is there is always hope. Al my friend here has the same and is currently undergoing all the treatment. He is having a six week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy over most of the week meaning daily trips. The first thing they have to do is make sure you have no teeth that will get corroded by treatment so need removing first,. They then measure you for the mask this apparently is quite comfortable. They then arrrange the neginnings of the treatment. It will not be easy so you will need a good support system around you - family, macmillans, friends especially when you have down days. Some people loose taste buds during treatment some can find swallowing hard but if you look back on our talks there are mouth exeercises to do. 

Find all the exciting food things you love that are highly flacoured and stock up you will need to keep your weight up and need things that are exciting to make you smile.

Oh Elona I'm so sorry your feeling so bad how much longer do you have to take the medication for could they give you different anti sickness tablets, its not going to be much of a Christmas for you just try and rest as much as you can not that it sounds like you can when your looking after poorly hedgehogs and trying to vacate the mini mafia, really hope you feel better soon

the mini mafia wish you both a good Christmas they are secretly planning an invasion of the hedgehog party food but we have them sussed and the food us not in a large tub - will take a few teeth to get into! 

the youn g mafia are getting very excited because they are expecting lots from santa this year even if they have been naughty they secretly know they will not get any coal. 

the parents have been goingout a lot on the scrounge to see what they can find to amuse the kids, at the moment there are several pickings as it has not been too cold to freee over food left overs or rubbish to raid. they are also making their homes all snug and warm to cuddle up together when it gets cold. 

the last procession went well - no real callamities thank goodness although Bruce got flung over the field and eneded up in a ditch breaking his leg so hes still on crutches. 

am aiming on having a good rest when we finish work on friday. think i will curl up on the sofa with the fire going and the dogs and just mellow.

Hope everyone had a good new year and I'm hoping we all feel healthier, how are you feeling now has the sickness eased at all. After the latest visit with the oncologist he wants me to have another scan I've been having discomfort when I swallow and some pain between my shoulder blades he asked if I was having heartburn but I've been taking omoprezole for months to stop it, so sick of trying not to worry its exhausting its my mum's partners funeral next week so have to be strong for my mum and the kids. Sorry to be a misery hope your having a better start to the year

i hope the scan goes ok and it is just the lymphadenitis causing your discomfort. will be thinking of you. pleasse try not to worry. am here for you to talk any time x

my treatment is not going so well either, i had to go onto vitamin D tablets that have helped lower the sickness because my levels were getting very low then had to have more bloods yesterday and today get a phone call telling me i have to go see the consultant wednesday. i have problems eating too everything i eat tastes wrong - my taste buds are shot to bits - i cannot eat a lot of things now fat in butter, cooking makes me sick, cannot drink milk eat chocolate, cannot taste sweet things they taste bitter, have just been eating carbiohydrates and now started on fruit. lump is still tender and flares up is depressing. i also need to get my eyes done again all of a sudden they have started to deteriorate. 

the mini mafia have been on the move they have made a hole from my garden or next doors to mine on the other side now. little buggers are traavelling like gypsies to see where they can make the best nest. i think my compost is being used as one at the moment. obviously the hotelier is making good money to employ those useless builders - they give the game away when a pile of dirt is found where it should not be! (too muuch celebrating over new year). sorry will tell more another time.

I'm so sorry your having problems I hoped it would have been getting easier for you the medication your on is brutal its every bit as bad as chemo by the sound of it, do you have to take it much longer, maybe the bloods you had done are showing its to much for your body to cope with. I feel stupid for being so anxious it could just be after effects from the treatment my oncologist is lovely but a man of few words and I have lots of questions  but usually come out of appt with more than when I went in lol, I'm going to take each day as it comes and try not to worry till I have the scan. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better please stay strong and try and stay positive this will be over one day and we can get back to a normal life again, hope the mini mafia behave

Please don't apologize your going through a terrible time and it must feel never ending, you mentioned your eyes were deteriorating are they ok is  it to do with the medication or another illness, I know what you mean people keep saying I look really well cause I've lost 3 stone lol

wow Alli thats a lot to loose. I have lost stone and a half. 

my eyes are deteriorating i think due to the medication but i cannot get an eye test until 7th feb booked it yesterday. Yes your right it does feel never ending. 

how is your lymphadenitis? 

i took Pedro for a walk yesterday down the road to our local bakers something i have not done for ages - have been sleeping ever since it made me so tired!

The medication your on is awful will your eyesight go back to normal or will it be permanent, as if the other side effects weren't enough for you to deal with its so unfair.  I was a bit of a pudding lol so losing the 3 stone was the best thing to come out of all this, have been so busy I keep forgetting to do lymphedema exercises but started them again as neck stiff and swollen, I don't think the scope helped it doesn't normally hurt but it did this time.

Glad you got out with Pedro sometimes just a walk and some fresh air can make you feel so much better physically and mentally, how are the hedgehogs are they hibernating is Belvedine ok, how are you managing with work

Glad yoour ok and hope you are keeping up those exercises we dont want you going backwards! 

i had to have more tablets for a fungal infection in my mouth dut to the tablets and they helped am eating better now so that is good. still cant eat everything like dairy, too much fatty things and still cact drink tea! or eat chocolate. - at least it means i have to be healthier lol. 

foiund a doctors kitchen book written by a nhs doctor for healthy eating and i think it has heloed i have more enrgy and the lump seems to have shrunk a bit or at least one of them. the consultant felt three lumps in my neck and i have one in my nose i think can feel it when i do a lateral flow test. 

have to have a skin test and more bloods thursday seems to be the norm at the moment have never had some much blood taken lol. looking at lymes disease and things now too. 

we had a priblem with mini mafia they got into our loft and when we had the external insulation pout on they got trapped so ate their way out and i now have a lovely small eaten hole in the outside of the house!!! whnen i have energy i have to fill in and hope the mafia have left! 

we have tried putting up a sign saying no rats allowed but i think they ignore it and laugh at us! they dance along the wall in the carport and i stepped onto a piece of my front garden and sank due to a run underneath it! not impressed. trying to reach a omprosmise is difficult!

A fungal infection as well I keep hoping your feeling better and now this and you might have lymes disease I'm not sure what it is ill look it up, you are such a lovely positive person stay positive this will all be over soon I hope. All ok with me had pet scan Monday had to postpone for a week as colitis is still playing up I will get it under control eventually, until then enemas twice a day , I'm trying not to worry about the results I see the ent doctor on Valentine's day good job I havnt got anything planned lol.

I think the mini mafia are determined to move in with you its obviously much nicer than the hotel there building

Bummer valentines day appojntment lol well at least it is only an apppointment so you can still do something if you want. Do hope thise news is good news. Sorry your colitis is still being a pain. 

have started doing an antiinflammatory diet by doctors kitchen - not sure i like too many of his diets but they are adapatable and some of them are really good. it uses a lot of good for you foods to help reduce the inflammation and people of the colicoides website approve of it so thought cant loose anything from it. has helped settle my stomach not so nauseaus. and pain gone from intestines. 

had skin test today to verify tb and all those bloods should get news next week then i had an interview for a new job so result massive nose bleed!! 

your right the rats wouyld prefer my nice cosy house they keep telling me the heatings going up so they think i could pay for it for them!!!

mini mafia have been showing their faces every now and then the front garden is not sinking as much at the moment we hope there is a lull in the building efforts of the builders. - it has after all been a bit wet and windy. (too many veggies!)

Hope you are well good news that you only have one more week of meds hopefully that's the the last of it, how are you feeling are glands feeling less painful. All ok with me the last pet scan came back clear thank God i have an appt with oncologist next month so hopefully still all clear, have been busy having a clear out  and have treated myself to a dresser for the kitchen to put all my things that I have been saving for years in. It's nice to see some sunshine we are going to York tomorrow for a few days so hope the weather holds

Lovely to hear from you. Glad the scans are ok and your fine. I am re4ally chuffed for you. Hope the oncologist appt went ok. 

Have finally finished my meds and am so relieved!!! feel better in myself and gradually gaining more energy have even been able to walk the dogs in the mornings - not for too long but the fact that i am doing it is great. 

i even went into the garden today and did some weeding. yay!! 

am still waitng on my scan., the lump has reduced in size but the gland under my tongue throat area is bigger and visible apparently could be like you with lymphadenitis or the glands harden after treatment but the scan will tell us. 

the mini famia have been looking for new accommodation recently they visited the side of my pond much to my horror as someone has already nibbled a hole in the liner which i have to repair. they also appeared the other side of the pond but i dug it over and there has nt been eveidednce since. 

i have t get rid of my compost because i think there is a lovely hotel there the bulilders did stop for a while but the hotel rubbish is evident i told them in no uncertain terms that my hedgehogs come first so they will have to move! (ther was a lot of swearing back as you can imagine!) however, think the mums are nesting and the girls despeerate for suitors that they are keeping quiet. 

how was your trip to york? as a kid we used to go and visit a great aunt there loved the city bet it has changed a lot.
