  • Hi  United1122. Like yourself I was told in Januray 2020 I had liver cancer,

A year on and two procedures later,  I'm still by no means  in the clear.

I have the bloating of the stomach and was told it was fluid. I'm also diabetic which adds to the list of things. I went to see the liver specailist and was told I would be seen by Liverpool cancer unit who specialised with liver cancer. my first face to face appointment was in the middle of covid19..  After our face to face I was told two options were left.  a resection or transplant. I said I'd prefer the transplant, yes more risks and on medications to stop my body rejecting the new liver. I was told because I fitted the criteria, I was a perfect candidate for transplant.  Last Friday I had another appointment at liverpool cancer unit,  Only to be told because of recent events,  Which were the cause  of my liver I was told I was no longer a candidate for either procedure. It just seems now they are putting obsticles in the way. all down to my liver cancer.

It has got to the point now were I just don't want to go through any more tests MRI scans. all the knock backs are getting me to a new low. It's now coming up to a year since the wife passed away with aggressive cancer. it was too late for her. 6 weeks from diagnosis to her death.  I still live with sadness in my heart and miss her so much.  Who knows I may join her some day soon.

  • Thuresday I finally went to the cancer unit in liverpool. after the last visit my phone assessment was cancelled with a midlands transplant unit due to problems which ended up with me in hospital.

Now from past scans I was told my liver had a blood clot , a portal vein thrombosis. Now I know from my family history my dad suffered from blood clots. and died when a clot was pumped by his heart and had a heat attack.  So I know blood clots can be fatalthe hospital that are dealing with my liver cancer said they were happy with the scans apart from this clot I have. I told them I has always been there for over the year. so want me to start taking daily injections. Today Friday I recieved a phone call checking about my oesophagus varices bleed, and have said they need to look at another alternative to disolve the clot in my liver.. I did ask about why it's suddenly become a problem, when they knew about the clot over a year ago.

I am doing or meeting there requirements, but each time I find there putting obstructions in my way so In the long run time may run out before I even get to the midlands unit for transplants.

I know it's going to be at least three months plus as I am being ear marked for more more scans. seems the longer it goes on the more problems I am having.  I do wish my wife still alive today, she is the one who kept me sane
