Recently diagnosed with BC

Hi everyone,

Been diagnose with grade 1 BC. It’s worrying and had sleepless nights after being diagnosed in November after second mammogram that I got .7mm grade 1 BC. No matter how old you are it really affect to individual. We are bombarded with lots of question= how to deal with it? What is my kid’s  future when I’m gone?  How long I gonna live? Can I survive the treatment when I have underlying health issues? etc, etc.  I am 60 and recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and constant high blood pressure.

Done the lumpectomy on 16 December 2020 and waiting for the schedule for radiotherapy. I was told with my breast doctor that after the breast operation we will wait for the biopsy. If anything left after the operation I will undergo a second breast operation. Then followed by radiotherapy for a week and medication up to 5 years.

For now, I never tell any of our friends what’s going on. I want to keep it secret for now that I am undergoing treatment. Because to me telling them doesn’t help. I don’t want them talking about me dying.

I only have the guts to join the chat and tell you about my health condition and hopefully we can share how we deal with our illnesses. I am a Christian and I believe God will never abandon us in times we needed Him most.

Best wishes.

  • Hi Ladies, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry that you find yourselves here, it's such a shock when you get the news that you have cancer.

I was diagnosed with Stage 1 grade 3 ductal breast cancer at the end of May last year. I have completed chemotherapy and have just had my surgery on Wednesday. I know it can be a scary time so just wanted to let you know your not alone and I'm happy to help in any way I can with any questions or worry's you have, or even if you want to talk any or get any of your chest.

    big hugs to you all

    Love Sarah xx

    Hello Saraheileen,

Thank you for popping in and share your story. Sharing stories is helping others. You sounds like you’re doing well after your chemo and surgery. Take care.

I am so glad I found this website chatting with those people with similar health issues. They always understand and willing to help base on their own experience. For now, not any of our friends know about my BC except my 3 children.

I have not much  to tell as I had just my lumpectomy 3 weeks ago and waiting to see my breast doctor next week. I will update here what’s the next plan for my treatment.

Best wishes and big hugs xx

  • Hi,

I just wanted to say hello. I found out last week I have breast cancer from my first appointment as soon as he touch it he told me. I'm awaiting full results of my biopsy's. I feel like I'm driving myself mad I'm just hoping they will be able to treat it. It didn't show on mammogram or scan but apparently that normally in young women.

I felt like my week has been turned upside down the result were due Thursday, but delayed and now I'm thinking the worst

  • Hi Md18,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

This is always a worrying time when you are waiting for results, especially when your consultant has already told you that he is pretty sure that you have breast cancer. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and was told this on both occasions. Waiting for a diagnosis is always an upsetting time because there are so many unknowns.

Unfortunately, our minds tend to play tricks too, in that they go in to overdrive and make us think the worst. If it is of any consolation, you will feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with and can start to move forward with treatment.

I am so sorry to hear that you didn't get your results on Thursday. This can often happen, especially with the additional strains on pathology labs at present. It doesn't mean that the outcome will be any worse, so please try not to overthink things - not easy I know! Try to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait and, whatever you do, stay away from the internet.

I hope that you get your results soon and that things are not as bad as you expect. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine,

for taking the time to reply means a lot. Your right about the internet as when you start looking google has give you a diagnoses and it's the worst case.

im trying to keep busy with the home schooling and hoping that I know before Thursday. I've said I'm willing to have these over the phone if needed as I just want to know whether they can treat it! And your so right once I know what the plan of action is i

can hopefully hit it head on.

    thanks :)

this forum has really helped with support and questions

  • [@Md18]‍

    Welcome to the forum.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December and like you googled then wished I hadn't. Google always gives you the worse case scenario. I've found this site very informative and everyone is very friendly and helpful. When I got my results I felt that now I know I can get on with the battle of getting well again.

Hopefully when you get the results you will know what your treatment will be.

    Take care

thanks for your kind words and it's so nice to chat to people who have been through similar things. I will keep everyone posted once my results are back.

    thanks for listening x

    Hi Md18,

Having the homeschooling to do at the moment should be a blessing in disguise, as this should help to distract you from the wait for Thursday.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
