Hi all!
This is my first time posting on this forum, and I'm not really sure on how really to talk about this kind of thing yet, so I'm just going to be blunt! My dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma about a month ago now, after going into hospital about pain in his chest and trouble breathing and suspecting a chest infection of some kind. The doctors thought the same thing, and started him on antibiotics. After an X-ray, the Doctors noticed some 'nodules' and fluid in his lung. After a keyhole surgery and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Mesothelioma that was considered to be quite non-agressive. A treatment plan was started, and he had fluids and a blood transfusion, along with another chest X-ray, and we were all quite hopeful about the treatment, as we were told that it wasn't too agressive. But not three weeks later, my Dad wasn't improving, and after going into the hospital for a check up, we were told the the cancer had got so advanced that treatment wasn't an option anymore, and that my Dad was very much on the downwards slope, and has been sent home so that he can be comfortable in the last few days if his life.
This all very sudden, and I'm sure I'm just being paranoid but it doesn't seem to add up? Even after the Meso diagnosis, the Doctors kept him on antibiotics, as if there was still a chance that it was an infection?
Also, my father is really struggling with a change in his taste, and can't eat almost any foods as he feels like the taste is different, and it feels like 'glue in his mouth', and I was wondering if any other Cancer patients had experienced this, and had any advice or solutions?
I suppose I'm just looking for some reassurance, things are a little difficult at the moment!
Thankyou!
