Hi Boycott100,
Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. My dad was recently diagnosed a year ago and has been coping very well with his treatment! Here if you need to chat x
Hello,
Thanks for replying. Even though I have family support it feels lonely at the moment. Will have to come to terms with it.
Good to hear your dad is coping. Is he still having treatment? Does he have any tips?
Sorry I've only just realised that you had replied and I hadn't seen it! How are you?m doing nearly a year on?! X
Hello, how are you doing?
My dadhas been diagnosed with stage 4 Merkel cell carcinoma. He has had the tumor removed and also had 30 sessions of radiotherapy but he is really struggling. He also isnt telling us everything that is going on so we are finding it hard to help him. How did you cope with it all?
Thanks for asking.
My immunotherapy stopped working after about 3 or 4 months so I started a new course of chemo just before Christmas. Not what I wanted but recent scan showed improvements so feeling a bit more optimistic.
Hope your dad is feeling better. There is hope out there. Nearly 18 months since my diagnosis and I'm still living a near normal life when Covid allows it!
Best of luck
Thank you for getting back to me.
Did you have radiotherapy? have you struggled with depression whilst dealing with it all?
sorry for all the questions x
Had radiotherapy after surgery and before my original chemo but not this time around.
Yes have had spells of being depressed and worried but too much going on to stay down for long. Not ready to give up yet!!!
Stay stringy
Hi Kels44!
Sorry to hear your dads been diagnosed with Merkel cell. 30 sessions of radiotherapy sounds hard going - where is your dads cancer if you don't mind me asking? My dad is having his cut out in the next couple of weeks so very anxious time. Are you able to go to appointments with him so you can hear information first hand?
Yes i am able to go to the appointments with him when they let me. Stupid covid gets in the way alot. We took him to hospital on thursday because he was in a lot of pain and nhave just found out that the cancer has spread. He is starting radiotherapy again today and then starting AVELUMAB immunotherapy. Its a very nervoud time. We are getting to the pioint of wanting to know what the long term outlook is going to be like.
