  • Hi cozzie.

Welcome to the forum the club nobody wants to join.

We think of ourselves as a big family everyone looking out for everyone else.

The forum is also a good place to let off steam and have a good rant.

Hopefully others will join you soon but some are only on now and again so don't worry if no replies for a few days.

  • Hello,

I cannot imagine what you are going through now. I do wish you the best of luck and hope that you get the treatment you need quickly.

Do you mind me asking what your symptoms were and your road to be diagnosed was? I am currently t waiting for urgent appointment with ENT and worried.

  • Dear Billy

Thank you for reaching out. I am still in shock as up until yesterday just thought it was a normal mouth ulcer that was taking it's time to heal. Am trying to keep positive adn remember that the consultant says it is early and hoping that the MRI & CT scans are clear - I need some good news!

    thanks again

  • Hi

I've had a small ulcer at teh front of my tongue since mid August - it was not healing so went to GP so referred me to ENT. 17th Sept the doctor checked glands etc - all clear thankfully but didnt like what the ulcer looked like - had biopsy two days later and met with consultant yesterday. It has been confirmed as cancerous, but he did say I have caught it early. Booked in for MRI and CT scan just to double check throughly and will dicuss next steps next Thursday with consultatnt. So other than the ulcer no other symptoms

It is worrying and I am still working on getting my head round it, but hoping that I can get it sorted asap

  • I know it's not the same but my wife started with what we both thought was a cold sore on her top lip just off centre, as you do we treated it with cold sore meds it shrunk till nearly gone then came back so treated again but it got bigger so went to Dr,

Straight away he said it was cancer so got booked in for specialist.

He looked at it said I'll operate straight away if that's OK or we can arrange a theatre operation, wife said doit now a nurse came in to assist i was sat there watching while they injected her lip waited few minutes and started cutting her lip away i heard him say this is deaper than I thought he went right through her lip cleaned up and sowed everything up gave us some painkiller and said get stitches out next week and that was that that was over 15 years ago

No problems at all can't see scar.

  • Thanks Billy, good to hear a postive story amid this fog :(

Had my CT scan today, hopefully MRI soon before my consultant meeting next Thursday. I am really hoping that all is clear in the scans so just into theatre for a bit of surgery and then recovery. I have been told that they cant feel any nodules on glands to the naked eye so hoping I have caught it super quick and the surgery will sort it out for good!
