Best of luck Keelin for this week. You been for your blood test?? And taken steroids tomorrow ?  I had a calendar with all my things in to remind me. 

I have had two doses of TC chemo and my third dose is 23rd December. 
I tried the cold cap and Lasted all of three minutes. It's bad enough having a rubbish diagnosis and to suffer some symptoms but I couldn't hack the torture of the cold cap- in my case it needed to be on for over 2hours each cycle.

I had my hair cut shoulder length shorter after finding out I needed chemo. (Oncotype dx 22) my head was itchy and started to loose hair on day 17. I tried to stick with it as didn't have a wig sorted but I had bits of hair all over even on my dining table eating my food. I tied it into ponytails and cut it then shaved it on day 20- felt relieved as I couldn't be done with all the loose hair all over.

Anyways day 41 after chemo and still not got my nhs wig sorted. But I'm happy staying indoors (out the way of Covid ) wearing my hat.

My first FEC is on the 30th Dec, I am going to try the cold cap,my blonde hair is down do my waste! The diagnosis has taken so much from me emotionally already i just want my hair to stay if possible 

 I hope your first treatment goes well.

Hi sorry for jumping on the thread but can I ask what your diagnosis was as I have been diagnosed with Stage 0 Triple negative in September, Last week I had my first chemo of Carboplatin & paclitaxel and never felt so strange in my life for 5 days it was horrendous.. they want me to have this for 3 months then start EC for 3 months before a lumpectomy as I have Carcinoma in situ in my milk duct. I'm awaiting to see if I can have just EC and Pembrolizumab instead.

No need to apologise! I was diagnosed ER+ IDC stage 3, grade 2 so quite different from yours I'm afraid. If you're having a tough time do let your BCN know as there are changes that can be made, though it sounds like you may have done this already. I had chemo then mx (also lumpectomy in the other one that had DCIS) then rads...that was late 2019 through to April 2020, since had reconstruction and am fit as a butchers dog now. It worked well enough for me too get away with having cancer without my children knowing or others, my hair thinned and I lost around 40 percent, unfortunately due to me having a Tiny head I did get a bald patch on the top of my head but was able too hide it with hair bands.

I did have big sheds two weeks after each Ec but my hair started too re grow before my last Docetaxil, it grew back really fast and think and was the same as my hair this by far was the biggest positive.

I think you have to stick with it if you can to the end. 
The Paxman website is full of all the info you need, it was like my bible I stuck to all the advice. 
 

The down side was that you had to wait a long time after the Ec before you took it off! Not so long though with Docetaxil, the first 15mins is tough as it's freezing to your head, after this it's fine. I would take a paracetamol one hour before and afterwards, I used a cotton hair band to protect my forehead and top of my ears. I also put a cotton ball on each temple. I put a Travel pillow around my neck this really helped me, I also took a hot water bottle.

i have had 10 paclitaxel and carboplatin and going on to EC.  I am worrried after all I've been through and kept hair through cold capping on this lighter regime that im going to lose it on the EC . I almost wish they'd given it to me the other way round .
