Breast Cancer - Help please

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well and staying safe.

I would like some advice please for my mum.

She was diagnosed about a month and a half ago with triple negative Breast CA. T2N0M0 Left Breast 22mm G3 IDC TNC. She is fairly young - 51 years old.

She has had two courses of Chemo thus far however she is really really struggling to cope with it.
She has no mental health issues but recently she has been acting really confused where last weekend she tried to walk out of my 4th floor flat window thinking it was the door and then later on stepped onto the road thinking she saw her father whos been dead for 10 years.

Admitted to A&E ?sepsis all results came back fine. Physics cleared her aswell saying it as an acute episode. CT Head was NAD.

No one can figure out why she is the way she is now.... the cancer has not mets. Some doctors thought it may be metroclropide so they suggested to stop that as well. I have also recently found out she was taking nortriptyline 50mg for over a year for neuropathic pain. But before her 1st chemo she thought she had to stop all medications. I wondered if stopping this abruptly has caused this psychosis?
One min she crying, next min she is talking non sense, she cant sit still for more than 10 mins, keeps feeling anxious, doesnt sleep for more than 20 - 30 mins at a time, keeps saying her head feels heavy and she can feel her heart pounding etc... She basically acting like my dad who has dementia.

She now wants to stop chemo and wants surgery and then radiotherapy... wanted to know if this is possible? Literally been holding my feet this morning saying she cant cope with it any more. I dont know what to do?

Any thoughts what is causing this or is this normal?

  • Hi Ali

I can't help directly but what you're describing does not sound normal at all, I would suggest that you & your Mum contact her support team and explain, in detail, what has been happennning and your concerns.  Your Mum's support team are best placed, as they know all the details of diagnosis and medical history, to advise on the best course of treatment or indeed stopping treatment.

I hope your Mum improves and what great support she has in you!

    Best wishes

    Sam
