Breast cancer

Hi to all

I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and is the most scariest, hardest thing I have ever had to face probably in my life.  I am 48 with 2 children and have been healthy all my life until now.

I had to return on Friday as the mri showed more lumps in my other breast aswell, so have had to also have them biopsied and getting result on Friday.

I came across this forum and thought I would ask if anyone has had this happen to them?, as obviously feel very scared and emotional as possibly facing a double mastectomy.

Thanking you all in advance

  • Hi Nikki

i'm Sarah, sorry to hear about what your going through. I was also diagnosed with breast cancer around 6 weeks ago. I didn't have lumps in both breasts but have got two lumps in the same breast. The 2nd was biopsied and came back as the same thing which is triple negative ductal cancer. They call it multifocal apparently when there is more than one lump. Before my 2nd lump was biopsied I was told by the consultant that it's quite common to see a cancer and benign lumps together.

ive been tested for a certain gene and if that comes back positive I will be having a double mastectomy, I'm trying not to worry too much about this though as i think I'm going to opt for reconstruction when able.

I hope your ok, I'm here if you need to talk

    xx

  • Nikki,

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I had lumps in both but only needed mastectomy as was able to have lumpectomy (really straight forward) on the other side (see my bio).  Odd to say but hope you're equally lucky (!?) for your sake.

Good luck and hope your treatment is kind...but whatever it is it will be doable, promise.

  • Hi Nicki

So sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.  It is a scary time but you know you will have the best care and will be looked after by wonderful and caring nurses.

Like you, Im 48yrs with 2 children and never had any health issues.  Ive always maintained a healthy lifestyle and kept fit but recently been diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer in the right breast.  With the current covid pandemic its even more worrying never knowing the best way to stay safe but the same time, trying to avoid getting cabin fever.

Ive had so many tests and MRI showing a lump on the other breast but after a biopsy it was confirmed as benign.  Im now waiting my mastectomy, just want to get on with it now!

I wish you all the best in your treatment and recovery.  Im here if I can help.

    Yv

  • I was diagnosed with bi-lateral ILC on 22nd June. As one in left is bigger at 5cm I need mastectomy there and lumpectomy right side. Awaiting CT scan to see if spread. Fingers crossed

  • Good luck with everything Jamanda xx
