Ovarian cancer

I was diagnosed one month ago. Stage3. Waiting for 1st consultation,  waiting to know what treatment will be, and when. Worried that covid19 will delay my treatment.

My 1st consultation will be by phone, shall I involve a friend/ family member to help? If so How?

It's hard not being in control of anything right now.

  • Hello Hayley_eve and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been given this diagnosis. Hopefully your appointment will provide answers to some of the questions that you have.

It may be an idea to write down some of those questions before your appointment. You can also write down the answers and any information that you're given during the call so that you have it for reference afterwards. Don't be afraid to tell the Dr/nurse if you need them to slow down so that you can take notes.
I'm unsure from your post if you live alone or not. If there is someone else in the house and you wanted to include them in your call then you could put the phone on loud speaker if you have that option. If they're ringing you on a phone that doesn't have that option you could always ask them to call you straight back on a mobile number if you have one.

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses ahead of your appointment then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm).
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn, thanks.

My 1st consultation appointment has been moved to next Monday. Waiting is frustrating and scary, I feel like the cancer is growing,  I'm increasingly uncomfortable with bloating and pain. The pain is manageable with paracetamol and ibuprofen as long as I get the timings right.

It feels like corona is delaying things, I really want to know what my treatment plan will be.

I'm 48, lucky to have my daughter here, she's wonderful, 21, but doesn't drive, which makes things tricky.

We are coping well with isolation, but as I said, I'm keen to get on with treatment.

Fingers crossed for Monday,  I don't know what I'll do if they delay again.
