Thyroid Cancer...looking for some guidance.

I've just been informed that following a recent  biopsy and neck CT that i've got cancer in my thyroid which has some lymph node involvement. Ive been told that both the thyroid and left sided lymph nodes are being removed which is pending at the moment followed by Radioactive Iodine later down the line.

I have been asked to get a CT chest done for completion, which im assuming is standard affair. I'm normal fit and well at 28, so this is alot to take in on the best of days. Is there much risk of spread with it already being in lymph nodes and is it likely to affect the treatment plan??

Thanks

  • Hi Thisnis Hazsl I am now 20 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer with several affected lymph nodes .The chest x day is routine to check your chest  is all clear .Inhas 35 radiotherapy sessions and 2 chemotherapy and got all clear in January 2019. Th lymph nodes will be doing what they are supposed to do that is hold the dead  cancer cells at bay and any stray ones from moving around .i had 2 lymph nodes which by treatment started  has spread to several more .

i have a blog www.radioactiveraz.wordpress.com where u detail my experiences, justvtemember if yiu are having radioactive iodine yiur experience will be different to mine But it is an immensely curable Cancer

keep in touch postive mental attitude got me through it
