My 2 year old has just been diagnosed Leukemia (ALL B-Cell)

I am packing our hospital bags for an expected 4-5 week stay while Archie goes through the 'induction phase' and I was just wondering if there are any tips of things that I can buy for him to help his little body cope better - like certain foods/sweets/drinks. Will his mouth get sore when he has chemotherapy?

  • Hi there ..

So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment... cancer is crule , but doubly crule for young ones ...

Just wanted to welcome you to our chat place, where everyone has been touched by cancer in its many forms ... wer here to hold each other's hand esp when the going gets tough ... I've had breast cancer , along with 2 others in my family over the last few years .. and now my amazing beautiful granddaughter was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia... she is 18 .. so my heart knows how many hills there are to climb .. she's just had her first round of chemo ..

But the hospital is an amazing place for young ones .. there's so much thought put into keeping them O.k .. and those young uns every time I go, are an inspiration ... they are way tougher then we know .. think it's us who love them that finds it scary ... but please look after your self too .. it's not a sprint, more a marathon ... but one step at a time, take each day as it comes ..

Always here if you want a chat ... think he will love you reading books .. and putting on funny voices as they do have lots of rest times as it does take their energy away at times .. and music .. try baby bum tunes ... put baby bum ( I know the name is a bit weird) into u tube ... it's all nursery rhymes and those ones like "the wheels on the bus" etc .. I'd try it but think they'd all tell me to please stop singing...

Sending you a vertual hug... Chrissie

  • Just wanted to give you a huge hug. It's bad enough when we as adults need chemo but a little boy? I struggle with that so god knows what you're going through.

my chemo left me with a very dry sore mouth but not sure about chemo for leukaemia, ice lollies helped me...oh and ice cream and jelly....

Sending you strength love, please pop in and let us know how he is doing? X
