Hi
I'm currently in the process of getting a lung cancer diagnosis. I've had a ton of blood tests and nothing significant (according to my dr) showed up. The only ones that were slightly elevated on a number of occasions was albumin, neutrophils, hemoglobin and MCH. I now know high hemoglobin can be caused by lung issues but my dr didn't think anything of it because it was literally just on the high end and barely out of range. These all went back to normal in more recent tests. My CRP, ESR and FDP (d-dimer) were all normal yet these are supposedly meant to markers of inflammation and can be elevated in cancer. Drs are all happy when you get normal resuits yet it doesn't mean a thing.
Hi their, thankyou for your reply, I'm sorry of your current circumstances.
My blood tests previous I vmhave had high neutrophils once or twice, albumin 46 cut of is 45. Crp i think was 2 last time
Last time my bloods were done my neutrophils were normal but that means nothing. Have you had any x Ray's? I have being told mine came back clear But my symptoms are here and not going anywhere, Pounding spine, muscle aches, chest is burning, all my joints are aching, fatigue, back pain. I had a bad chest infection took 2 lots of anti biotics, then pleurisy! Had a awful lot of phlegm this has slowed down now. All the best I hope your next lot of news, you get some good, positive news, G.
I'm sorry you're suffering too. I'm currently getting upper chest pain, shortness of breath and symptoms of vena cava syndrome (tumor pressing on vessels blocking drainage from head) and neurological issues so I'm not optimistic I'm going to be ok. I had a clear chest x ray a few weeks back but I've heard a lot of tumors don't show up on x ray and it depends where they are. My albumin was 54 then 56 and then it dropped to 51. I reckon something was going on though drs didn't seem to care. Albumin is rarely elevated so I knew there was something not right
Hi there, for what its worth we are all very different. I was diagnosed in December with lung cancer, 51 yrs old, and had no symptoms and normal bloods and xrays. It was caught on a ct for a gastric Condition. Bloods dont always give a full picture nor do xrays.
Ive had half my left lung removed and start chemo on the 19th. If I'm really honest the stress and anxiety is worse than anything altho i ended up on double antibiotics and now have residual chest pain and a perma cough. Despite all this it should result in being cancer free so have hope and write down questions no matter how silly they may seem.
Its easier said than done but try not to panic. My surgery went very well. Fingers crossed for next hurdle. Take care. L
Hey- Glad you're doing ok!
My partner (56) had / has symptoms they are currently investigating - seems to take forever!
Pain and tingling in hands and arms, and upper back, a little weight loss, breathlessness & shoulder pain.
His bloods and chest X-ray came back clear apart from a vitamin D deficiency, but because of the weight loss he is booked in for a CT scan on Thursday, Which I'm presuming will show if anything is out the ordinary - not sure it's cancer, but he's not well in himself, so many symptoms can mean so many different possibilities!
So will wait and see what Thursday brings, one way or another at least we know whats what then
Jenny
I've got vitamin d deficiency too. I hope your husbands scan is clear.
I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. This is why I'm pushing for a CT scan. I have all the symptoms and am very poorly and I know X Ray's are not always reliable. My aunts lung cancer did show on the x ray but I know so many get missed. I hope you get better soon. All the best
Hi huni a ct is the only way forward from there you can get a good idea. Fingers crossed. Let me know. L
Hi
Me too - those that say the worrying is the worst are right!
We have also now found two moles in his back that don't look right - I did think they looked odd last year, but he said they'd always been there, and I wasn't sure enough to argue, maybe I should have.
I would assume that a CT scan is a good as it gets, so if nothing shows we can stop worrying, and if it does then we'll have to deal with it.
The stupid thing is that a Doctor hasn't even examined him yet!
He had an appt and described the symptoms, the Dr referred for bloods and x-ray - which all came back clear apart from the vitamin D deficiency, it was only when he called us with the vitamin D results and my hubby said does that explain all my symptoms etc etc and weight loss, the Dr went.oh do you have weight loss? - my hubby had told him that in the first place(!)
The doc then called back an hour later and said i think you should have an emergency CT scan, appt will be thru in 2 weeks and the appt is for this Thursday - so we've got this far with 1 appt and 2 phone consultations! So who knows what will turn up next.
The odd thing is he is a builder so works outside a lot, but he has lost all his muscle tone in his arms and legs, the Doc blamed the pain and pins n needles on arthritis originally, it may not be cancer - but we do need to know what it is for sure as something is not normal.
I hope you get the CT scan you want soon, so frustrating when you have to push so hard for something so important
