Metastatic breast cancer stage 4

Hello all, I'm a mother of two young children (borh under 10) I've recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in my bones, a few spots on my spine, nothing in my lungs or kidneys or major organs.  But I'm totally distraught....

I'm on hormone injections monthly,, ibrance,(chemotherapy drug) and the bone strengthener injection.. I've recently had a CT scan which showed I'm responding well to meds, and I have an MRI this week on my spine and vertebrae, to compare to the last one which was done last October. .

But I am so depressed (I'm on an antidepressant), my husband is great but there's only so much he can do.  My biggest problem is the children..the tears I've wept over the last few weeks thinking about the future and how long I've got.  It just breaks me up...

How do you cope?

Thanks for Reading..

  • Hi

I was diagnosed with triple negative mestatic breast cancer in liver only . Had EC chemo but told didn't respond and the cancer has grown especially in liver

putting me in a weekly regime now if paciltaxel and Carbo platin

So I am scared snd worried oncologist saying reasonable chance this will slow down cancer snd in some cases can reverse damage to liver but to be prepared it might not work

my question is has anyone else been in this position and there has to be more than two options the first one EC and this one x I have heard treatments are tweaked and changed a lot

I have two children in their 20's but like everyone want some more time to be here for them and meet grandkids

I hope that doesn't sound selfish

  • Hi Janolly

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you are doing well. Unfortunatly you very rarely get responses on here if your stage 4. Especially triple negative.

But I can tell you about my mum who had stage 0 9 years ago. Only had a loop guided lumpectomy no further treatment.  But now herself has stage 4 triple negative BC. Even after having her regular mamograms. "They never detected the cancer"

Anyhoo she had weekly palictixel this didn't work and the cancer spread to her liver. She is now trying EC. So far its made her very unwell, her hair fall out even with cold cap, nausea vomiting, no appetite and extreme fatigue.

I know these forums are for positivity and support but there is also the reality of what happens.

    Wishing you positivity and strength.
