Daughter has breast cancer

Hi, my name is sue.  My stepdaughter, who has learning difficulties has been diagnosed with breast cancer, which has gone to her lymph nodes.  We've been told she has to have chemotherapy, six cycles, then surgery.  Can someone tell me how long after the chemo does surgery take place, and give me any ideas how to make it easier for her.

thanks in advance.

  • Oh bless you, I'm so sorry....does your daughter have any understanding of what's going on?

The surgery will depend on your daughters recovery and health. Most of the ladies on my cancer chat went into surgery around 4 weeks after chemo finished.

Will she be having fec chemo? I was pretty wiped out for the first few days after each cycle but rallied around day day five... side effects differ so much.

Make sure you get on top of her anti sickness meds..even if she's feeling ok....

here if you need to chat love x

  • Thank you so much for replying.  She has some understanding, she knows what cancer is as her dad had Hodgkin lymphoma.  We don't know what chemo yet, I think we'll know a bit more on Tuesday when we see the oncologist.
